Just asking, are you a part of the culture?

I am 0 percent of the "Culture" of ISU basketball. However, I would say that the head coach and the leader of the program is 99.9% responsible for it. Which is why I laugh when he blames the players for the "Culture".

However, I do love that No Discipline Dan is dressing up as a fake teacher and teaching Character Class to the team this off-season. Ironic that he abandoned all morals he had to try to win while his team has run a medium sized criminal enterprise off the court.

Fairweather fan, you are. You're doing no justice to your screen name.

Fairweather or not, at least Rico's posts have some validity and honesty. The rest of the scrums on this board act like there are no issues with ISU basketball whatsoever. Whoever doesnt actually question Lyons/Muller/ISU basketball well being is flat out incompetant and is a disgrace to Illinois State University.

Several folks have questioned and now we know .... they are here to win Championships.

Amazing. Impossible not to smile seeing a video like that!

Believe it or not... our elite video production team continuing to put out things like this does wonders for brand identity, reinforcement, and like I said, makes us look more big time. Could help recruiting in all levels of sports.

They do a good job. But from what I have seen from other universities, puts ISU in the average category, rather than elite.

Wow. Lots of shots fired here.

You are sending some mixed messages here, champ. You seem to be violently against the coach, the players and the AD... yet you continue to show up to games.

Have you ever thought about just... ya know... going away? Like, there are lots of other teams in the area (we have established this). I'd think if you don't like the way Dan does things, you can probably look around the midwest and find some new colors to wear. To be completely honest, you are the type of guy I simply cannot stand when I go to a game. Where every shot that goes in is luck and every shot that misses is the direct fault of an inept coach. Every effort to change or develop culture is an effort to camouflage some elaborate ineptitude of players or coaches.

You have been a fan for a LONG TIME, so i encourage you to look outside the ISU bubble at teams on ISU's budgetary and league level across the country. They are winning 25 games one year, losing 25 the next 2, firing a coach, burning it down and starting again time and time and time again. Literally dozens and dozens of programs just like ISU.

Coach Muller has not made the show yet, that is my hangup. But you know what he has done? He has won. He has won the Valley and built first team all Valley players. He has nurtured and created Larry Bird POY winners and people in NBA camps. He has coached and developed many young man who are now getting paid handsomely to play basketball. Yes, there have been some lapses both on the court and off by these young men, but you will find, by looking around at all 300+ D1 programs in the country, that those things happen EVERYWHERE. Why? Well, these are 18-22 year old kids that we always expect to be grown men. 6 years ago, most of the kids playing D-1 ball in the United States were getting ready to sit down in high school algebra for the first time. You seem to think they are bad kids and Dan is going out of his way to find the worst ones.

I know you are frustrated, but ISU has had among one of the very best offseasons I can remember. You coming here and telling everyone that they shouldn't be excited IN THIS THREAD FOR A HYPE VIDEO (Which is very well done) does nothing to help the program, players, coaches or fans.

So maybe... like... pipe down? When this team does something on or off the court that makes the school look bad, feel free to jump back in and discuss that. But right now it is July 8 and there is simply no reason for you to plant your flag this far before tip off.

I, too, believe that the last seven years of Redbird bball has fallen far short of the mark. I loved the hire of Dan, but the extension authored by Lyons is a joke. Dan wasn't going anywhere but Lyons still decided to tie ISU's hands with a horrible contract. Lyons should have been shown the door already but the ISU admin. doesn't seem to think we have any issues. Wow.

I am cautiously optimistic going into this season, and hope year EIGHT is the charm. If not, we need to seriously consider moving on...
