The official rip-off for season two of the Ryan Pedon era.

I do not think the score will necessarily be as close as the prediction below, but this is also the type of game that (somewhat) "allows" the opportunity for those occupying the farther seats of the bench getting some measurable playing time. I am also relatively confident that many different rotations will be trotted out in order to get their effectiveness prior to the step-up in competition at the Billikens on Saturday and not all will be effective.

Redbirds 76, Gray Wolves 68

We should undoubtedly win this game. The Lourdes do have two outstanding players. We should be +12 I’m thinking

Looks like Lourdes can put up some points. They won their opening game 108-80 and play again this afternoon.

Coached by former Bull Dennis Hopson.

As much as we need this non-con season to build our momentum to conference, this is not a game that you can go out and barely win, let alone lose. Fans do not want to see us struggle to beat lower division teams, especially if they are regular season match-ups.

That being said, this team is clearly a lot more talented overall than we’ve had for a while. We have guys playing where we need them. We have depth. Let’s get this season started off on the right foot.

The Game Notes are out and the projected starters are:

Leib
Lewis
Kasubke
Poindexter
Banks

I thought we'd see Burford and Foster in the starting 5, but hard to argue with this group. Pantagraph story this morning made it sound like Pence will get plenty of PT. Gotta lot of depth this year!

I’m most excited to see what Walker can do. Any idea what kind of minutes he’ll get?

These were the starters for the IWU game. As the old saying goes, doesn't matter who starts, it matters who finishes.

Depth seems to be legit this year but it's too early to tell. It'll be interesting over the next 6 weeks or so how minutes shake out. It looks like the rotation can be as deep as 11, but it's rare to go that deep into the bench consistently. What was it, 2008-09 when Coach Jake at UNI did the hockey lineups?

It appears Pedon could have an interesting issue at hand with mixing the transfers with the returners and freshmen. With only 200 minutes to play in a game, we'll see how they get divvied up.

Pedon's biggest challenge might be getting 11 players to all contribute and buy into their roles this season. If so, this could be a very good team. If not, expect the inconsistency we have seen the last several seasons. I am leaning towards the first option.

Deepest team in years. I don't know what that translates to but I'm confident of a win tonight.
Off the top it will most definitely help this down the stretch of close games. Depending how deep the rotation is, the birds could be the fresher team during crunch time. That’s an overlooked advantage.

I believe that starts with the returning kids. If they see as they’ve been saying about the transfers and newbies then the rotations shouldn’t be a problem. That’s actually critical for young players growth. Only speaking of Mal here. The excitement is through the roof. That say a lot about the depth and roster this year.

How could they have left off Rick Bettenhausen from the 7' club. I am sure he played in 1 or 2 games
