Since everybody knew for months that Trevor was their pick, do you think he got into the coach's ear a bit to talk up is brother in arms? Nobody doubts Travis Etienne's talent though. Most teams need two workhorses any way I guess. I too wonder how well Etienne picks up the blitz?

My guess is no way. Most scouts and reporters were suprised by the pick. I don't think the new QB would say anything but who knows!

Well, stands to reason JRob has a lot of support on this board, but I'm not as confident. From today's USA Today, in an article about "veterans on thin ice" after the draft:

Jaguars RB James Robinson

Undrafted in 2020, he had a remarkable rookie year – 1,070 rushing yards, 49 catches, 10 TDs in 14 games – for a really bad team after beating out Leonard Fournette in training camp. But since then, new coach Urban Meyer has signed former Ohio Star star Carlos Hyde, then drafted Travis Etienne in the first round. There's nothing wrong with a stacked running back room, but if the Jags can potentially trade an undrafted backup downstream for, say, a third-round pick, wouldn't they have to strongly consider it?

May be just as well he gets a chance to move on.

I mean, they didn't plan on Robinson being in their long term plans and believe me when I tell you that they have spent the last 2 years creating a playbook that is 70-30 pass to run for just this moment. They would be able to trade Robinson right now for a low 2nd or high 3rd rd pick. That is a hell of a return for an undrafted player.

I could see this happening. The Jags were terrible last year and have lots of holes to fill. If they can pick up a draft pick for an undrafted free agent that would probably be a good deal for them. Maybe they plan on keeping JR. I don't think Urban Meyer is going to show his cards to us so I guess we have to wait and see.

I was reading that Urban wants to play Etienne all over the place. A lot as a WR if you can believe that. So it might not be so bad for JR as I first thought.
