I didn't have a problem with Butler going home on the grounder to third. He had that runner dead to rights but you have to make that play. Man that infield plays fast. Defensive issues for both teams but it was sure fun to watch! How about the play Parola made behind second. Didn't get the runner but it was special. Heading down for the game at 3. Gonna be good!Birdswin said:Redbirds won a wild one 10-7 - in the sixth inning Indy State scored 6 in the top and the Birds responded with 5 to retake the lead at 8-7.
The top of the sixth for the Redbirds, was a disaster that was started with a poor decision. After taking a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the 5th - we walk the lead-off batter (bad), he advances to second on a ground out - then goes to third on a passed ball (bad) - then next comes what opened the flood gates for a huge inning. Ground ball to the third basemen - instead of getting the second out at first, he decides to throw home - which was the throw was wild and the batter ends up on second base. Now with the score 3-2, there is only one-out and a runner on second, instead of two-outs and bases empty. The next 6 batters all reach base and two pitching changes later - by the end of the inning, it was 7-3 Indy State. The Birds were very fortunate to score 5 in the bottom - aided by a misplay by the rightfielder, who came in on a line drive, that sailed over his head with the bases loaded.
Ended well - but, in these type of games - get outs when leading - do not go for the super play. Then everyone else presses a little and plenty of bad things happen.
