Today's Green Bay Press Gazette has a note that Trista Fayta, from Green Bay Notre Dame HS, will sign her letter of intent with the Birds this week. Here's an older article about her when she made her verbal commit last November:

Reporter got the "Redbirds" wrong tho . . . .

Along with Illinois State and UWGB, Fayta had offers from UW-Milwaukee, Cleveland State, South Dakota, Bradley, Evansville, St. Thomas, Central Michigan, Omaha and Eastern Illinois.

It was the Cardinals who won her over in the end.

Ms. Fayta was listed in today's Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's "33 best HS girls players" in Wisconsin:

Trista Fayta, sr., Green Bay Notre Dame

The 5-7 point guard averaged 17 points, 6.6 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 steals. Was a third-team all-state pick. Will play at Illinois State.

Would love to see us keep an eye on Taylor Davidson from Stillman Valley. She has set numerous scoring records as a junior at a school that sent Macy Weaver to Arkansas. She averaged 24.6 ppg this year. I don't believe she has any D1 offers yet. If you click on the tweet it shows the records. On pace for close to 2,500 career points.

Chick who set picks are awesome! Right Cindy 😜

In all seriousness at least the women’s team didn’t fold for two decades after hiring Stephanie Glance. Kristen knows talent

Barb Smith. Although Glance seemed more transfers for success.

Green Bay Notre Dame is in the final four in Wisconsin's Division 2 state tournament, with ISU's commit Trista Fayta. Notre Dame is 27-1, seeded #2 and playing #3 seed Wauwatosa East (23-5). They are shooting for their 4th state championship in a row. 4th! Game is scheduled for 15 minutes after the first game, I'd guess about 2:30-3pm on Friday afternoon. You should be able to stream the game, free, here:

Just for that I am going to sit directly behind you all weekend. 🗣

Coach G was able to get that program back up & running pretty fast. I would love for her to stay around a long long time.

Ms. Fayta was named conference player of the year and defensive player of the year. Nice to have a player with such gaudy offensive stats also be a tough defender. From the Green Bay Press-Gazette:

It even dominated the all-conference awards in the Fox River Classic.

Fayta, who is averaging 18.1 points, 7.2 assists, 5 rebounds and 4.5 steals, was named the player of the year and defensive player of the year.

Rohde was coach of the year, Fayta, Grzesk (17.5 ppg, 7.1 rpg) and Whitehouse (12 ppg) made the first team, fellow starters Peyton Musial (12.9 ppg) and Kaia Waldrop (12.5 ppg) were selected to the second team, and Whitehouse and Waldrop joined Fayta on the all-defensive team.

Watched Green Bay Notre Dame, featuring our commit Trista Fayta today in the Wisconsin Division 2 semi-finals. The Tritons had a very strong win vs. Wauwatosa East. Won 82-44. Will face #1 seed Pewaukee tomorrow, who gave them their only loss of the season. Notre Dame will be going for their 4th straight state title. Game tomorrow at 6:35 pm.

Fayta played very good, leading the team with 18 points, 10 assists and 5 boards. My first time seeing her. She's the point guard for Notre Dame and brings the ball up and initiates the offense. She was named defensive player of the year in their conference, but I did think she got beat a couple times off the dribble. No one's perfect. She plays great "pass defense", they press all game, and is super running the break and getting the ball up court. Good shooter and nice all around player. I've seen her listed at 5-7 to 6', so who knows. I think they introduced her today at 5'8.

Our commit Jordan Fenske from Waukesha West HS was named to second team all-area by the Milwaukee Sentinel (plus earlier to Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Division 2 all state team):

Jordan Fenske, 5-10, sr., Waukesha West The Wolverines were hit hard with graduation from last year’s sectional semifinal bunch, but the Illinois State recruit excelled in coach Mark Busalacchi’s final campaign at the helm. Fenske averaged 18.9 points and shot 40.1 percent from deep on 182 total attempts this season, leading to a spot on the WBCA’s Division 2 all-state roster. She eclipsed the 20-point mark eight times during the regular season, including a 31-point performance against Waukesha North/South with five triples.

Do we have 3 incoming freshman?
Yes. Fayta (PG), Nelson (SG), and Doneelah Washington (F) out of Lincoln Nebraska.

Fayta and Nelson I have seen play and have the talent to be impactful from the start. I don’t know as much about Washington, but I will have to see what Calvin Wetzel from HerHoopsStats has said about her. He reminds me of Tolentino just how good he is at his craft.
