Was reading the goredbirds article on graduation and noticed one name that stood out on the list.
https://goredbirds.com/news/2019/5/10/academics-over-70-redbird-student-athletes-prepped-to-graduate.aspx

Men's Basketball: DJ Clayton, Keyshawn Evans, Phil Fayne, Matt Hein, William Tinsley, Milik Yarbrough.

Not sure if DJ Clayton was a mistake or if he is getting his degree. If he is, good for him.

Also, noticed on the APR article that men's basketball wasn't mentioned. Looked it up and Men's basketball finished 7 out of 10 in Men's Basketball.

DJ Clayton showed up in a lot of Instagram stories for the team. Hung out with Copeland and co.

I noticed that too. Obviously, he wasn't on the team but he was on campus a bunch. Maybe he came back to finish his degree or something? Maybe he is a grad transfer??

Can confirm at the graduation this morning (Saturday) at Redbird Arena - DJ Clayton, Phil Fayne, and Milik Yarbrough are graduating - Muller, Hein, and Evans in attendance. Also, football RB Markel Smith crossed the stage - bonus information.

Congrats to all...good to hear Smith earned the degree despite his shortcomings with ISU football. He was a bruiser and fun to watch but the change seems like it needed to happen.

Well good. It appears their classroom performance it right on par with their bball IQ. Happy to see those free rides going to good use. Meanwhile, over in Peoria...freaking embarassing!

965 isn’t bad.
Not good enough to be mentioned in the article with the other programs.

And nowhere near bad enough to have any articles written. MSU has had a lot of negative due to this and could face postseason bans if it continues.

We are closer to MSU than we are Bradley.

And? Results lag a year. We lost a bunch of players that won’t or didn’t graduate to help scores. Elijah Clarance, David Ndiaye, Jerron Martin, and Christian Romine. Our score was decent considering.

When a player transfers and enrolls in another school does that hurt your score? Duke also got penalized when Zion Williamson went pro like Clarance ... there's was only 957.

Let’s try to keep this thread negative. Ok?

Each student-athlete receiving athletically related financial aid earns one point for staying in school and one point for being academically eligible.
A team’s total points are divided by points possible and then multiplied by 1,000 to equal the team’s Academic Progress Rate.
In addition to a team’s current-year APR, its rolling four-year APR is also used to determine accountability.

Where you really lose points is when a player bails or quits trying the 2nd semester. In the example of Zion, if he kept going to class and trying they won’t get hit, but if he bailed the second the season was over it’ll hurt. While I quoted 4 guys that left the program it’s likely not all were in good standing when doing so.
