The way they treated him? He was treated very very well with the exception of his 1 for whatever final game. I have associates who are season tickets holders for UK who would really disagree with you. Antonio was in a 1% 'income' bracket last season with world-class travel, outstanding living accommodations, and the best food a 22 year old can get. He drove a killer car, got to play in one of the top basketball venues in the country, elite training staff & facilities, and gained a heck of a lot more exposure. Calipari also made it clear throughout the season that Antonio's job on the team was to SCORE. How many players get that green light? The way Kentucky fans treated him at the end of the season I hope he does leave. Goes somewhere he can get NIL and be treated with respect.

Oh yeah, he advanced his academic status as well...although that doesn't really count now, does it?
It's a me-first world. Shaking my head, but sure...go get yours, Antonio. But I have a hard time believing you'll have a better setup than UK.
Yes, Tone was treated well by the team, the school, and many fans. He was also reviled by many fans on social networks . . . As is usual, the haters are more vocal on social networks, so what Tone probably heard from those sources probably didn't sit well with him. Then again, if he thinks it's going to get better elsewhere or when he plays professionally, he may want to do a reality check. The way they treated him? Well I'm sure what he'll get paid weighs a lot.My issue isn't so much that he's seeking to 'establish/increase his brand' in the next year...it's the claim that he was treated poorly. There's an element of that aspect which every college player at major D1 level (good grief even our level) has to deal with! Overall, he's hardly been treated poorly. I'm a fan of Tone and man do I wish him well.
Let's be honest, though. He isn't treated poorly. He's been spoiled. So be it! I readily admit if I had a son/daughter competing at that level...in this particular day and age...frankly, you have to weigh what you're getting "paid."
And to think that Pemberton actually felt blessed, for the first 4 yrs of college, to run 10,000 miles for Donewald (while getting screamed at for at least 5000 of those) and earn a college degree in the process! Different world. Different attitude. Different players. Ohhhhh Rickie Johnson where art thou?!!!!!
They probably would have said those comments whether NIL was involved or not. They have high expectations every year and it was obvious the team was not as strong as recent years.I don’t take offense to anyone defending KY. I do wonder if anyone saw the constant barrage of tweets saying “a kid from Illinois State? No wonder we lost.” All season long. “We are in trouble if our best scorer is a transfer from Illinois State.”
A spoiled, condescending fan base never embraced him and pounced every chance they got. Does that come with NIL money now? I’m not sure. We’ve vilified people on here for less drastic takes.
With NIL in play, you are a professional athlete so you might as well get used to the scrutiny. They probably would have said those comments whether NIL was involved or not. They have high expectations every year and it was obvious the team was not as strong as recent years.
I don't condone all of their behavior but when you are getting paid a nice sum of money and car, you should expect to hear grumbling when you and the team doesn't perform. You are now being compensated so you need to deal with good and bad. Fans can still cross the line whether amateur or professional and that is unacceptable when that happens.
