I don't think anyone would call Pence a power forward. You've got 4 shooting guards and only 3 small forwards. Moving him to small forward on your chart makes our needs more glaring.
Well, freshman Daugherty isn't really a power forward either, in fact, I would say he's gonna be more like a "wing", he's a shooter not an inside player.,
I think there's plenty of decent DI schools these days playing with a 6'6 210-220 pound "power" forward, the traditional 4 spot, at least for part of the game. Ideal? No, not at all, I'm from the LeRoy Watkins school of coke machine inside players. But these days . . . . . stretch 4's, stretch 5's, etc. all over the place.

I think the problem with playing Pence at the 4 spot is that doesn't seem to have much of a role in our offense most of the time. Pence could probably be much better utilized as a 3. I think we need whatever 4 we bring in to be physical, a strong defender and rebounder.

I think in Pedon's offense, he can play the 4 as the 4 isn't an on the block big for Pedon, its more of a stretch 4. The thing he'd have to improve on is boxing out on the defensive end.

If the new players can shoot as they have in the past and Malachi picks up where he left off, we will be a much better team. Lieb has a defensive and rebounding presence that can be very helpful. However, I am still hoping for a Del Yarbrough clone to appear as our last player.

Okay this has been bugging me. What happened to Pence? I’ll preface this with saying that I’m still a believer in the potential and hope he sticks around and develops. But man, all I heard in summer workouts and early season practice reports on here and other places was that he was playing really well and was going to battle for a lot of PT.

Did he just lose all his confidence when he struggled early on? I was just so excited about him and he just couldn’t get over the hump. Seemed very tentative on the court. I can’t imagine him playing like that inter-squad and outsiders hearing his was looking very impressive. I assume no one has that answer but I figured I’d ask.

Were I to guess, he likely got in his head. Would benefit greatly from having a sit down with a sports psychologist.

Well, and then he's only a freshman. A little green, didn't adapt as well as hoped, blah blah blah. Give him time.
