So far, ISU has outscored opponents 77-0 over 7 or so quarters of play. Don't really care who you are playing, I'll take that.

our play action is just going to be a killer this year.
and dare I finally say ... we have some WRs, not named Schnell, who can run routes and catch the ball .. liking Haley and Edgar more and more, especially Haley.
Davis continuing to look more confident. Coaches are making it pretty clear by not playing Kolbe yet ... they want to see Davis develop and succeed. Slow start, but big step forward since Q1.

Colorado St has an early 3 point lead on Arkansas at the moment, but they are NOT going to like this box score when they come in after this one.

very nice season opener .. defense showed up strong the first half, and faded a bit 2nd half. Offense run game showed up strong all night, followed by pass game that opened up big time after Q1 .. until we shut it down in Q4.
Impressive all the eeway around for sure .. didn't know what to expect after the STX game, and playing this rivalry game ... so I am very pleasantly surprised with how well we dominated the first half .. then held on strong the 2nd half, though not as dominant.
Quick RB observations ... regarding Robinson, awesome day at 15 carries for 153 yards and 10 ypc. As for Smith, he looks a little leaner and quicker than a year ago ... just love how he runs with combination of power and speed, but his quicks seem a bit quicker this year. Not sure why Birch was not used more .. so won't even speculate. And once Davis connected on a couple big pass plays, that just makes everyone's job a little easier.
The 2 plays that buried them ... stop them on 4th and goal, followed immediately by 97 yard TD strike ... Davis to Schnell. Gutsy call by Beathard and perfect pass by Davis to hit him in stride.
Last observation .. it was good for our defense to have to deal with their hurry up, just in case we see it later in season.
Congrats to all the coaches, especially the new OC and DC .. the team was ready to play.

A couple of quick thoughts:
Love to see Davis taking shots down the field and hitting receivers in stride. It appears that we have a legitimate two dimensional offensive attack.
We had two scores come back on penalties. That’s a problem.
I’m worried about our kicking game. Two kicks out of bounds and a missed field goal. If a game comes down to special teams, it freaks me out a little bit.
Besides those little concerns that I noted, what a performance. Great D for most of the game and a great offensive game plan and attack.

Brady Davis can throw. This offense has a chance to be really good. Very solid game on both sides.
