Paul off to good start - two HRs today (Easter Sunday) in NY at Citi Field. He has 4 hits in the series in 11 ABs - and solid defensively.

Paul has 3 HR for the season and an OPS of 1.500 after 3 AB in Milwaukee.

Paul has been very, very good defensively this season. His strikeout numbers have been improving but he still needs to work on that. He is trying his hardest to be a power hitter (which he is) with 8 HR, and leading a very balanced Cardinals team. The problem is often where he gets bat in the lineup. He's bats 8th or 9th typically, which if he gets on, the next player is either the pitcher or grounds into a double play. It'd be beneficial to become more of a contact hitter. If he gets a higher on base % then he will (hopefully) move up in the lineup, which could lead to more runs.

Generally, its amazing the Cardinals have been in 1st most of the season so far with Matheny as manager. Mike has been struggling this season such has not pulling the plug on Waino, keeping Fowler ($$$ mistake) in the lineup, and pitching Holland.

Edit: I had typed Gregerson, meant Holland, the 14 million dollar mistake.

Injuries for everyone on the Cardinals. If they don't weather the storm, they'll be back 10+ games in the NL Central race in the next few weeks.

When DeJong got hit on the hand - he initially got back in the batters box, it was not until replay, did he get to go to first base. Then played the field the next two innings and batted in the ninth inning. All with what we now know was a broken bone in his left hand.

Hey Redbird (and Cardinal) fans! C'mon out to ISU night at the Peoria Chiefs Saturday June 9! It's Paul DeJong bobblehead night! If you don't know Paul is the current shortstop (now on the DL) for the Cardinals and is a former ISU Redbird star player!

DeJong looked terrible last night - two errors and another misplay - and three cost the Cardinals runs. He cannot play like that and continue to be in the lineup.

Geez, a big baserunner screwup by DeJong last night cost the Cardinals at least one run and you could make the case for another run - those plays make a difference in a one-run game. He has to play better - period.
