I have no "axe" to grind. I am a former Letter winner, have been a Redbird Club/WSF member since 1992, basketball season ticket holder since 1992, and football since 1997. But, to think the ISU Athletic Admin is doing a good job - I would strongly disagree. They are average at best - very nice people, but not getting the job done. I hosted 6 out of town guests today - former Letter winners and their spouses - they were highly critical of many things and not coming back any time soon. Next week, I have other guests coming in. The shuttle bus instance Double Deuce tells - is just another sign.

Considering we have Steve Fisher back (in our hall of fame) and we show a video with no audio, at a timeout instead of at half time, then spell his name wrong when he’s shown on the video board. I think there is some work to do within the athletic department with gaffes like that happening on a regular basis.

Dropped the ball when “O” came back last year to be honored. Not even a highlight video to show of him.

Agreed. This happens over and over. They have Redbird Productions that is the one bright spot of the athletic department that can easily put something together for these things.

It was like the 93 football team coming back for the Youngstown State game. They have video of their win over #1 Youngstown State on their YouTube channel, but didn’t show it or put anything together.

We have taken the shuttle bus every game since it was started and have never come close to being left at the
Arena. We sit in the north end and take our time getting out there. If someone gets left behind, it's not the fault of the Athletic Dept. They are providing a very popular and useful service.

The bus driver was in a hurry to get to the yoga studio for a date. Fire her and hire yak.

I think maybe you mean fire him. Unless it's a transgender thing.

BIRDSWIN remember when I thought you might be part of admin? Now I get it. You just had a vibe. Letterwinner makes complete sense. Thanks for hosting other letterwinners!! Also, RICO, I was in the pressbox for the Youngstown St game. Still a vivid memory. What I remember most was how, collectively, all of admin were excited. Most of them were on the sideline at end of game exchanging great big bear hugs. First time I ever saw alot of them just let loose.

One of the things that always stood out in admins during that time was the tremendous camaraderie amongst the admins, coaches, and entire department. It was very inspiring and bloomed a strong sense of professionalism within the dept as a whole. I remember at a banquet Julie Morgan reading a letter Jim Heacock sent her after some adversity, in spite of his own...encouraging her...and Morgan breaking down. Julie was no girly girl mushy type. Bob Bender carried a grossly injured gymnastics athlete off the mat...in his arms. He was there. Most visible and popular head coach in a long time, in any sport - at a gymnastics meet.

I'm not around anymore and haven't been for a long time but something seems stale. For the record I like LL very much personally and think he's a strong money manager and a character guy. JMO. JMO as well he's hit some strong winners with Kristen Gillespie and Leah Johnson. Don't know the baseball coach but it seems to be a solid hire and in those hires Lyons deserves credit!! (As far as the Muller extension it was all pretty much consensus HERE that Muller deserved a promotion within his contract and it needed to be upgraded. ISU is tied in what it can do (without a donor/donors) so there is some window dressing in that contract favoring Dan.)

In saying that...something seems stale in the dept and I don't think it would hurt to shake things up. Wishing no ill will on LL or his family and am hoping for a graceful exit and not forced. Frankly I saw nothing wrong with his son's hiring but his son absolutely should be judged on his performance and communication.

The misspelling of Steve Fisher's name is incredibly embarrassing, unprofessional, and while an innocent mistake should never happen. It's just another little thing that is slowly adding up to a big thing.

Doubles I know you're a great fan and I'm not implicating you cause I've been there with diapers&kids but if a game attendee is riding the shuttle the said person has a responsibility to get out there pretty quickly after a game. Not sure I put this one on ISU. I don't recall but does PA make any formal announcement during or after a game in regards to the shuttle?

Maybe next game we can flag ISUFan1 down and he can give us both a ride. He can tip US just for the pleasure of our company.

I initially started posting with the intent of just asking a question about the shuttle but let my frustration get the best of me. Sorry for feeding any Redbird bashing fires. I'll know better to make sure and change any dirty diapers while in the bus. The boy did love the bus ride over...it's been his life long dream to ride a school bus.
