I'm getting up in years. Yes, the nostalgia of the late '90s was awesome. Back then, Wichita and Creighton were doormats. Indiana State was a bunny, UNI would be an occasional pain-in-the-backside, Evansville was still wearing t-shirts, Tulsa, CBA Shea & Tubby were on their way. It was all us, Bradley, and SIU. Let's get back there. I believe.

Dan will do it, right? He's the best for the job.

No, ass hat, I am grateful if we were going to transition anyways, we have a good guy. A man that likely would have been the front-runner for the now vacant Butler job. I believe we are in good, but safe hands.

I think the Thad Matta move was in the works for awhile.

Regarding Matta, it's obviously a perfect fit, hand-in glove like the Murray State turnover. I'm just surprised he's going back to the sidelines. Great guy. wish him the best.

Yeah, I'm not sure Butler would have gone with an assistant, even one of their own, so not sure how much of a chance Pedon would have had. After the Jordan years (and I like the guy) I have a feeling they were looking for an experienced guy who could "step right in" so to speak. Legit head coaching track record and all. They were getting impatient.

Very surprised Matta stepped right in tho, I thought he had the medical issues, altho maybe he's better and/or maybe that was more of a graceful cover story for turning him out in Columbus.

And I will wear this one on why it was so timely to get Pedon when we did. Did not anticipate some of this changing of guard. Our new Coach, or Coach Gates would be shoe-ins for the Butler gig, so kudos to our Director of Athletics for being extremely proactive, even at the expense of a favorite brother.

Also interesting Powell, Jr. remains waiting in the wings.

Thad was on my wish list for here since he was a local small town native. Lot less pressure here than a P5 and he has already made a lot of money. Am hoping Pedon being in his early 40s and working for 5 coaches with varying levels of resources will make up for not having any head coaching experience. So far no head coaching experience on his staff.

Pedon wasn’t going to Butler. It was Matta and was always going to be Matta. If they wanted Pedon, they’d have canned Jordan a lot earlier than they did.

It was a good choice to start early and get a jump on the pack. If we were looking for how someone performed in the dance then that's a different story. Its like getting a recruit to sign early to lock him in before the churn of who's going where begins to me.

I read a few articles in the Indianapolis Star from Saturday, and it was interesting reading. I didn't get the feeling that any of their 2 or 3 writers had any clue they were dumping Jordan, or planning to hire Matta (as a "done deal"). Generally ripped on Butler for their timing in waiting so long to let Jordan go. Speculated on several potential candidates, Pedon was mentioned as not in the mix because he'd taken ISU, Matta was mentioned by a couple of them, but also John Groce, mentions Jeff Boals from Ohio U as a "favorite" to be named, couple of assistants with Butler connections, Chris Mack ex-Louisville coach.

That's not to say the AD didn't have Matta in mind from the beginning. Maybe so.

Thanks to someone on the board for pointing me/us toward hoopdirt.com, for coaching rumors.

Powell Jr. listed as a finalist for Cleveland State job, one of four.
