We struggle to put up a $11 million IPF and UND builds a $200 million state of the art hockey facility.
If you haven’t checked it out, it’s incredible…

We just need to find our Ralph Engelstad.

I remember when this opened they said it was nicer than a lot of the NHL arenas.
Thank you - that's what makes comparisons hard, some of these schools have particularly well to do alums who make it happen. Missouri State, John Hammons, OK State, T. Boone Pickens. Etc. Etc. I've posted before, seems like we might have such a candidate:

Tricia Griffith, CEO Progressive Insurance

File this under “not going to happen.” We have other alums who are worth more and have stronger connections to ISU and the athletics department. We just don’t have a booster who is both die-hard passionate and ultra-wealthy to make a contribution today. It’s possible we see that someday with the Mounier family gift, but that is not guaranteed in amount and is probably restricted to some degree to golf.

That’s not to say that Griffith does not support her Alma mater or won’t make a notable gift someday She was also a very involved student. However, I’m guessing paying taxes and having six children, we aren’t likely to see her cut a $5-10 million check to the athletics department. Perhaps she would be willing to endow a professorship or chair someday. She could make much more impact here than at UPenn.

Probably the best thing for ISU is to convince Progressive to endow something in her name to the Katie School similar to what Microsoft did for Paul Flessner or Growmark did for Dan Kelley at ISU.

I haven't seen it in person yet, so just curious. Are there any type of facilities (trainer's room/bathroom/equipment, etc.) inside or attached to the IPF or would they still use Kaufman/Horton for all that?

Those facilities are still in Kaufman, but the IPF is only steps away from Hancock and Hancock is adjacent to Kaufman. There are also bathroom facilities in nearby Horton.

Right, thats why I was curious. With both buildings right next to it, probably not worth the extra $/labor to install any of it there.
