So someone just needs to plant the seed that Dan won't be here for the next 4-5 years. 🙄🙄

I think you just did.

Fairly certain that I wasn't one of the first 50 to do so, unless this is the only thread that he reads.

I remember Justin Dentmon very well. It wasn't Washington that came along and caused problems.....

It was also more than a verbal, no? Not arguing Quinn’s point, just curious.

Yes. Dentmon had signed with Illinois State.

Dentmon committed as a senior I believe, and he was a non/partial qualifier. I think it would take another event, than just a bigger offer, for him to flip.

Washington came along eventually, but they were not the first to court Dentmon who did indeed sign an NLI with us...

Dentmon reneged before he got here, opting to go prep school (after having an unauthorized convo with a certain P5 head coach).

Dunson reneged after beginning summer workouts, going juco instead.

Both hurt ISU at the point by reneging so late.

Dunson backed out of his LOI and instead went to prep school at Brewster, then he went to Iowa State, then left there and landed at juco (Vincennes). From there he went back to DI.
As for Dentmon, he wasn't like going to be a qualifier anyway so the decision to go prep wasn't fully unexpected.

That’s not entirely true. He was only a point or 2 away (act) from qualifying. He had 2 additional chances to take the ACT but was “encouraged” not to take them by the fine coach who now resides in Manhattan, KS.

Exactly

I wonder how hard that same coach would have helped Dentmon prepare for the 2nd ACT attempt had Dentmon signed with his hometown school as opposed to the rival school a couple hours north?

This Friday BHS has a home game against Danville. Both teams ranked in the state, and will feature a pair of future MVC rivals. Of course, Payton and former Redbird recruit, current Drake commit Kendall Moore. 4 MVC teams had offered Moore (ILST, INST, DU, LUC).

Thanks

For anyone able to attend, please provide a report if possible. Moore sounds like a really good player. Dan offered him very early if I recall.

At the game again today. It's like he is already apart of the team.

Who was with him? I saw him sitting there with two other guys. Assuming other BHS guys, but just wondering.

There are two players already locked up and committed in the Class of 2019 in Illinois. Bloomington’s Chris Payton is one of them. What a tremendous recruiting gem Illinois State coach Dan Muller has already landed in the athletic junior forward. The potential for the highly-athletic Payton, a City/Suburban Hoops Report top five prospect in the junior class, is enormous. Payton was the second best player and prospect at Pontiac, behind only Simeon’s Talen Horton-Tucker.

Not sure just noticed him behind the bench on TV. I think having him there so often really helps keep guys like him who seen to be taking off and getting a lot of pub.

This worries me as well

Not worried about this at all . . . so long as Dan’s here.

Most times you see Chris sitting behind the ISU bench, as he was at yesterday's game. I think he really likes the Redbirds, and wants to stay home. I'm sure some bigger schools will come snipping for him, so we just gotta hope he stays solid for us.
