Apparently, not Muller Time: In these days of Twitter, coaches of athletic teams are forever telling their players not to post personal opinions that don’t relate to sports because they can only lead to something negative.

Coincidentally, ISU basketball coach Dan Muller might now be learning that a bit himself.

Other day he posted a tweet to his 1,500 followers on Twitter that read — “I love chick-fil-a! Love their food and love what they stand for!” — a reference to the restaurant chain that made headlines when its founder announced that he does not approve of gay lifestyles and same-sex marriage.

Muller’s tweet, in turn, led to commentary on the other big social media platform — Facebook — some of whom questioned why he’d ever publicly say that when ISU itself might have athletes who are gay and donors, too, who might support gay causes.

As one later tweeted: “Maybe next time Dan should just say he loves chicken and leave it at that.”

To answer the truth's questions: 1. Dan's tweet didn't make any reference to anti-LGBTQ. Dan wrote a tweet saying that he loves what they stand for after going to the restaurant and having a positive experience. His tweet simply had to do with liking the food and having a positive experience at the restaurant and nothing to do with anti-LGBTQ. Some people read "love what they stand for" and incorrectly assumed that it meant something different than it really does. He simply had a positive experience in the restaurant and some people incorrectly linked "love what they stand for" to anti LGBTQ.

2. Chick Fil A the restaurant itself isn't anti-LGBTQ. When people say things like this, they're referring to CEO Dan Cathy's belief in the biblical definition of marriage between a man and a woman.

I like that Chick Fil A and Hobby Lobby are closed on Sunday. Part of what they stand for is employees having the day to go to church and spend time with family. It comes at a price to there bottom line but I like what it stands for. And for Chick Fil A: I may not "like" it because I would buy it if I could, but I respect that they'll never be publicly traded. Lastly I don't agree with Dan Cathy's view on marriage but I would fight for his right to believe it.
