While doing some packing of stuff I came across a Pantagraph from 1/28/18. The front page Sports headline was "ISU transfers eager for next season". It was an article regarding Zach Copeland and Matt Chastain. As we are all pretty much in agreement relative to ZC's future with the birds there are some genius's who think MC will not be here????

HCDM talks about how they both have the job on the scout team of getting the team ready for their next opponent. As a result they join PF and KE during the captains meeting with refs before games at RBA. "It's a huge honor for transfers. Unfortunately, it's a little bit of a statement about our players who are eligible. But they (ZC & MC) earned it and just play with toughness" said Muller. "They are both everday guys and are unbelievably coachable. They just play hard".

The story goes on to tell of MC tearing his ACL. "He then decided to transfer to ISU that spring. BECAUSE LOYOLA DIDN'T GRANT HIS RELEASE TO A FELLOW MVC SCHOOL HE IS PAYING HIS OWN WAY AND CAN BE PUT ON SCHOLARSHIP STARTING NEXT SEASON".

"Muller also sees MC who will have 3 years remaining being able to play a couple different positions. MC is up to 200 lbs, about 20 more than HS."

So there you have it folks, doesn't sound like someone who was released from Loyola or a player who will not be here next year!!!!

It looked like he would have one, but seems like it's still in the air, especially if Dan brings anyone else in.

With JJ and Copeland blended in with MY, Key and Phil you
have to wonder about chemistry. Not to mention Will who got
comfortable hoisting at years' end and EC who never understood an untimely
and awkward moment to let it fly - Coach Dan will have to work his magic on ball share.

Good challenge to have compared to this year.

Assuming EC returns, wouldn't it B a beautiful thing to see him as an Assist/Ball Control Guy from Day 1.
He'd really make his mark and role for this coming season.

Reflecting on this - another beautiful thing would B the Coke Machine to fall into our lap. Go Birds!!!

EC will be plenty good by his Junior year. Missing preseason with an injury hurt his progress, but he is strong and quick. Work on his defense and improve his shooting range and we will really like this guy. He is a good kid to boot. Be patient and don’t run him off.

Why does anyone care whether Gassman, Chastain, etc. are on scholarship next year? It’s up to Muller to do what’s best for the program. Some on here act they they have to pay the freight if Muller chooses wrong. Muller will decide who has earned it, and we’ll live with the decision.

We should be a deep team next year with several players in the rotation. Hope Chastain contributes and is fully healed.
