There's more Levi Dyer than Leroy Watkins in him.

Yeah, unfortunately true.

Taylor is not 6'10. 6'8 at the best! Taylor's game when it is all said and done will be most comparable to Deontae Hawkins, with more post presence. He's working on the weight thing. If he can get up to 230 from his currently listed 200, with his skill set, he'll be a force in the Valley for a while!

Yeah, I don't see Taylor locking horns with Krutwig for the next 3 years. Hawkins is the right comparison. I still wonder if Taylor will be tempted to play some baseball here, with that 95 mph fastball he supposedly has. That's a pro type arm if true.

I am aiming high... I was hoping Taylor could add 25 pounds and become a 6'8 Doug McDermot. He has the touch and agility to do this. Needs more strength and killer instinct.

BTW Hawkins was a good defensive rebounder and not a push over inside. If he evolved into this year into the third year Hawkins I would be excited about that.

Heck, I'll settle for him to shrink an inch and become a Kyle Korver clone, of course, I don't think Dan would settle for his defense.

I am very excited to add Dedric to the Redbird roster! I also am a Taylor proponent...but he is is not (and will not be IMO) a Valley post player/defender. I like his skill set too-but I see him more as a wing/power forward & wondering if a redshirt (aka Odiakosa) would benefit him & the team?

I just can't see Romine being gone now that DN as departed, plus we haven't added any JC bigs. We'll be in trouble if he departs. I'm not considering Bruniga as a true big (maybe I'm wrong there if he bulks up a bit). That would only leave us Phil and Rey the freshman. Milik can play big, but we have no depth at all then. Even with Romine I feel we need another big body guy.

I thought I saw where Bruninga is 6’10”? If he bulks up this summer-and I’m sure he will- then how badly do we need a “big”?
I am pro-Buninga big time but feel he definitely needs another good season of development. If he can add 20 pounds of weight room strength combined with natural strength/athleticism maturity I believe he will be a big time ISU hoop player. His basketball skills are very good as well as his basketball IQ. However I do not see Bruninga as the type of player that is going to back up Fayne this coming season should Fayne be in foul trouble/sick or roll an ankle and be out a couple of weeks.

20 pounds on Bruninga will still put him well below what we need in the middle.

go back and reread.... it was 20 pounds of weight room muscle + natural strength/athleticism maturity...aka do not want to see him add just 30 soft pounds....he needs strength and mass big time and not just mass

This is exciting news for the program. I have to admit I am surprised to see 2 transfer signings.

Although, some don't care to talk about our scholarship situation, I am not one of them. I am very interested to see how this works itself out. Maybe one of the new players is not on scholarship this year. Maybe Romine is gone. Maybe The Gassman is back to his non-scholarship status. Maybe there is another player leaving. It seems to me we are 2 over and we are still recruiting.

I hope Benson or someone asks the questions we all have on our minds and gets some answers!

Excited for the future of Redbird Basketball! GO BIRDS!

I didn't want to hijack the Boyd thread but I will tell people if you go over to goredbirds.com and look at the roster the roster has been updated to next years classes and Romine is listed as a Junior with the current 13 roster. The one confusing player imo was Copeland was listed as a Senior. I wonder if he just playing 1 year and moving on.

Sorry you didn't like my response. But there was no misunderstanding of what you wrote.

I noticed that too. Hopefully just a typo. Or since he was a NQ maybe he has to "earn" his next year of eligibility. Think like Hawkins and McIntosh. Their freshman years were not technically rs years. Copeland wasn't technically rs until the spring semester when he passed his fall classes, if I remember correctly.

I was wondering if maybe this was it, that he has to "earn" his final year since he is technically an academic non-qualifier last year. If he is only getting one year I feel bad for Zach overall, as he got a raw deal on this one.

As for the rest of the roster, I honestly wouldn't be concerned with what it all says until say August or September when the roster is finalized. We could potentially still have more than a few changes made before then.

As for Boyd, I'm excited by his potential. Proven scorer at the D1 level that should have some good talent around him to help balance the load. If EC improves over the summer this could be an interesting combination for teams to face in 2 years.

Just a couple more of your many worthless comments in response to someone else's post. Quit wasting people's time via posting meaningless responses to other's post. Does that make you feel good? If you are trying to be like ISU FAN 1 it is not working. ISU FAN 1 often takes on a defiant alternative position that many seem to find annoying but at the end of the day he does post some interesting comments and posts some funny stuff. Your posts do neither.

Really excited for Boyd. Three years of a scorer will be nice. The year off will do wonders for him. Dan has shown the ability to teach ball skills and sitting so good averages should go up especially since he will have a supporting cast.

Just to be clear, will Boyd be on scholarship during his sit out year?

Don’t know. Don’t care. That’s a Dan and player issue. Why some fans obsess about it is unclear.

Holy shit we agree.

If on scholarship wouldn't it count against our 13? If there is any relevance, that's where it lies.

Yes, if he is on scholarship he would count against our 13 total. I think with a year of adding some weight and learning our system the kid could be a terror for valley teams to guard.

and the chances of him coming here without a scollie and paying out of state tuition are pretty low. He's getting his ride.
