I can not blame anyone who is trying to get ahead, move up the ladder and make more money. He will only do that if he does a great job at ISU and so far so good, I would say. Some call it a stepping stone or lack of loyalty but it is just advancing in your chosen field. the other end of that spectrum is someone like Coach Spack who likely has had offers or at least discussions of moving on. He seems content to be the ISU Head Football coach. If Brennan has aspirations down the road best of luck to him. ISU benefits in the short term if he keeps producing to make his reputation. It also sets a solid foundation for his successor.

Agreed. "It's a good problem to have" describes it very well because both parts are true. It's good when you have success that causes someone to be hired away. It is also a problem when you have to replace an outstanding employee. Not counting current personnel, President Bowman was the best Illinois State University President I have known. Was his successor as good? (Flanagan) - no. Sheahon Zenger was the best AD I have known. Was his successor as good? (Friedman)- no. Todd Berry was the best Head Football Coach I have known. Was his successor as good? (D. Johnson) - no. In each case the drop-off was noticeable. You strive to get another really talented person.... but realistically -

Raeggie1857 is listed as a "new Member," but sounds eerily similar to a poster under a couple of prior names: The reason that a non-land grant, former teachers' college without a law school, medical school or engineering school is not playing in a P5 conference with a 70,000 seat stadium is lack of vision and lack of effort on the part of administrators.
