Another huge series, this one against 2nd place UIC (31-14, 14-7 MVC). ISU (24-12; 12-9) is in sole possession of 4th place, but a series win is probably a must in order to hang on to a top 4 seed. A sweep would put us into 3rd place ahead of UIC and Murray State. 2 out of 3 at worst would leave us in a tie with Murray State for 4th and one gb of UIC for 3rd.
Looks like Chadwick may have been pulled from the weekend rotation after a couple of tough starts, especially against Murray State. He was the starter last week when we got blown out by Western Illinois.

Great weekend of quality baseball. Won 2 out of 3 against second place UIC. I was able to attend Saturday's game. It was a great experience and I highly recommend. I know it won't happen but I wouldn't mind UIC being the permanent host for the MVC baseball tournament.
Saturday's game was also the only one I was able to watch, so I'm going to offer a few comments. We just had awful luck in that one. 4 bang-bang plays at the plate and we ended up on the wrong side all 4 times. 3 of those 4 were probably arguable one way or another as well. We also just missed a pick off at 1st base (that would've ended the inning) prior to UIC rallying for 4 runs. Aside from Auggie's incredible HR robbery, nothing went our way in the 7th. I've seen a lot of great catches in person but that was one of the best. I didn't think he had a chance the way the ball was hit off the bat. I think the wind might've caught it just enough to keep it in. Shai also was ejected in the 8th inning after a horrible strike 3 call. Very exciting and eventful game.

Will have an update on the standings later this week. Birds are in a tie for 4th with Murray State. It will be difficult to pass Murray State, but if Evansville takes 2 out of 3 against UIC we have a good chance to steal 4th. We have the tiebreaker against UIC but not Evansville or Murray State. We are within 1 game of all 3 teams.
