So, not that I want to fan any kind of hysteria here, but James Robinson has proven to be arguably the most effective north/south RB in college football over the last season. He can catch and, at 5'10'' 215 lbs, is PLENTY big enough to play with big boys on Sunday.

If current trends continue, he is going to be north of 1400 yards and 20 TD this season and, unlike Marshawn a few years back, won't be doing so as part of a 2 headed running monster with an option style QB. These stats are through the tackles and over LB yards, the kind NFL scouts love.

Dude looks EXACTLY like Jordan Howard IMO and seems to be quite a bit faster.

With this recent movement away from the mega high paid RB in favor of drafting studs in the 3rd or 4th round and handing them the ball immediately, is anyone at all worried that this kid might be considering the draft after this season?

I don't see it happening yet. Believe it or not, he was still burning off baby fat this past year from HS and his FR year injury set back. And developing physicality needed to carry the load that Coprich carried for 2 straight seasons as a feature back. Robinson's combination of power and speed, plus his patience reading holes works very well at this level. But not yet sure he has the speed or conditioning for next level .. but he is getting there. He has more power than quicks for next level. And I don't think he is faster Jordan Howard, .. maybe same, but yes similar combination of power and speed .. though Howard is 230 lbs and Robinson is 215 .. which is down 10 lbs as he continues to work to make his frame more lean.

Very talented RB without doubt, but he is work in progress physically. Not even rated yet on NFL Draft Scout site for class of 2020.

I think it's a fair point to bring up. In this day in age, all it takes is one guy to get in your ear and you might start having dreams of a big payday. At the end of the day, I think this could be a possible scenario if he's told there's a great chance he's going to get drafted. However, I think anyone in his position could benefit from another year to sharpen the tools so to speak, but as a running back, it would make sense to leave early if the opportunity was there.

I would consider it if I were him.

Just woke up middle of night feeling wide awake ... so here I am at 3am posting.

The MVFC has had a number of very high profile RB studs these last 5 years, some are istill n the NFL, some never made it to NFL. But not one left early and got drafted.

Robinson is very good, but this is FCS and he is still a work in progress phyiscally ... and not even rated on NFL Draft Scout site. He needs another year getting leaner to improve his agility and top end speed.

On a more general note, we need to temper our excitement some .. we are 3-0, playing a 2-3 NAIA team, an 0-4 OVC/FCS team, and a 1-4 AAC/FBS team. Yes, things look more promising than many of us thought at this point ... but let's let this play out more.

But I will say this much ... this year and especially next year look very promising for Redbird Nation. If this isn't quite the year yet for playoff run, then I'm really really really looking forward to next year ... anything less than final four will be disappoiintment in 2019 .. our 2 deep is loaded for next 2 years.
