What would you say if I told you we beat a top 25 team for four consecutive years under Muller. Can't beat them unless you play them

2015 - 16 beat #21 Wichita 58-53
2014 - 15 beat #8 WIchita 65 - 62
2013 - 14 beat #25 Dayton 81 - 75
2012 - 13 beat #16 Creighton 75 - 72
Too bad he didn't beat any of them when it mattered. Get hot in St. Louis. That is the only chance for this year's team. IF they would get to Sunday, it's not going to be because of who they played in November/December. It's going to be because they got lucky and the bracket fell their way. We could have 5 P5 schools on the non conference schedule and someone would bitch about not getting enough wins, ruining their confidence, etc... It's 2022, folks just want to find something to be mad about.

As expected, no "surprise" P5 game. With this schedule, they should go into MVC play with a winning record.

"My short-term philosophy on scheduling versus my big picture longer-term philosophy on scheduling did not necessarily align this year," said Pedon. "My short-term (philosophy) is I have to do what's best for our team and our program this year. That may look a little different in terms of scheduling philosophy as opposed to what I would see moving forward."

"We had a lot going on in the spring, obviously, with a lot of natural transition and movement within our program," said Pedon, who brought in six players via the NCAA transfer portal. "Scheduling is important, but it wasn't the only thing that was important.
"I choose to prioritize the roster in the very immediate future when I got here. We were doing it (recruiting and scheduling) simultaneously, but I did not want to put the cart ahead of the horse."

Well at least we know these guys must not read this board since they had no clue who we were playing. They seemed surprised at every game announced, and excited to hear we are playing LSU.

I found that to be really weird that didn't seem to know who was on the schedule?

This may already be on here somewhere, but in case not, here’s info on how to secure your tix:

We really seem to be cutting costs on this trip as the Marriot is nowhere near as nice as the hotel in '19, plus the last video I saw of their beach, earlier this year, was not comforting as there was none. The ocean came all the way up to their sea wall. There are way better and cheaper places to stay on Grand Cayman.

Using your example, how does playing this schedule prepare them for those 3-4 games in March better than one going 4-6 against T25 teams?
Culture of winning, not playing hard to do your best. Im sick of the Redbirds doing their best. We have been watching try hard basketball for 8 years. Teach these guys to win games they should win, not lose close games against teams who should eat them alive.

Fun fact about a Loyola-less Valley, most of the conference is in no way measurably better than 75% of the Redbird non con. The Valley is bad. Our champion will be, what, a 14 seed?

Learn to win games against teams at this level and it is direct training for St Louis.

The Marriot is on 7 mile beach and if you can swim a little bit you can get to a snorkeling reef. Pretty cool beach.

My buddy on the island says that part of 7 Mile is still pretty thin. He jokingly called it, "Four Mile Beach." The snorkeling in that spot is really good. There are several areas right there where you can see a ton of sea life. I hope ISU plans something for those attending. Just a meet and greet would be nice.

Lowest Kenpom ranking (2021-22 season) of a current Valley team? 321 (Evansville). Second lowest? 287 (UIC). Third lowest? 230 (Indiana State).

Lowest Kenpom ranking (2021-22 season) of non-conference schedule? 357 (Eastern Illinois). Second lowest? 340 (Chicago State). Third and Fourth lowest? 330 (Northwestern State [x2]). Fifth lowest? 316 (Eastern Michigan). Sixth lowest? 298 (SIUE). Seventh lowest? 267 (Ball St.). Eighth lowest? 250 (Western Illinois).

That is the entirety of non-conference except for Cayman Islands. The third worst Kenpom ranking in the Valley from last year is higher than the best of our non-conference excluding Cayman. That means 73% of our non conference would have been outside the top 10 in the Valley in Kenpom.

Also, during the time when we had our saviors in Loyola (quite recently, in fact), we had a 15 seed in Bradley as our only team in 2019. We would have had another ~15 seed Bradley in 2020 had the tournament been played. This entire narrative is just false.

I was there before Ivan. I know there was a lot of erosion. The snorkeling was great!!! The only place I've done that from the beach.

The nonconference schedule is weak this year. Hopefully it's a one-year anomaly and not a sign of what to expect in the future.
