Here is schedule and my way too early win probability prediction ... it adds up to 8.3 wins out of 12. I think our minimum is 8 wins and we could do 9 wins. So much depth returning and we finished strong on defense. If we solifiy the QB position and depth chart, I see 9-3.

Given this roster should be ready week 1, I do like that we have a bye later in season after game 7. This should help ready us for a stretch run the last 4 games. We have 3 easier road games, which always helps. Once again we get huge test at Home to open the MVFC season .. NDSU this year, and I think they will be the MVFC favorites ... SDSU is losing so much.

Foremost I love the 12 game schedule next year - I see us 9-3 (perhaps 8-4). We should be 3-1 going into the NDState game (which who knows, injuries, etc) we might be able to pull off an upset. But assuming we don't then we go down to SIU and that one might be tough. So if so then it will come to UNI on road on whether we go 9-3 or 8.4. I say payback and its 9.3 and into the playoffs but we have to go on road due to IHSA playoffs and who knows who we draw.

Good point on playin game hosting. But if we solidify the QB position (2 deep), I am thinking we may be in the hunt for a top 8 seed .. may seem silly right now, but it should be a "stretch" goal for this roster. Spack should be challenging and pitching a playoff run to his team .. got to keep as many as we can this offseason so they want to be part of it.

I respect your caution wrt to the potential for this team to be seeded next year, but it's seems very, very reasonable to me. At the risk of belaboring the point, four losses by eight points says all you need to know about how close the 'birds were to a seed this past year. Give these guys another year and keep the defections to a minimum (so far so good) and I'll be disappointed if were not totally fine with the IHSA playoffs in Hancock. We won't need it that week :)

I'm feeling pretty good thus far after transfer window #1. Here are some players who might be making an impact for us on the field this year (based off the posted 2024 roster). I'm sure others will emerge particularly on the OL and Defense.

QB - Rittenhouse, Rubley, Kaplan
RB - King, Mueller, Wright, Robinson, Glatz, Ficklin
FB - Presson, Martine
WR - Sobkowicz, Kasper, Nelson, Carr, Loyd, Contreras, Crawford
TE - Charles, Bartol, Spaulding, Ziebarth
OL - Zambrano, Pope, Carr, Gudaitis, Guedet, Smith

DL - Gaines, Anderson, Steffen, Siegal, Stevens, Galloway, Kessler, Curtis
LB - Abdullah, Campos, McCoy, Niekamp, Leyden, Walker, Edwards
DB - Jackson, Gearhart, Hogdgon, White, Cannon, Wilson, Dwyer, Kirenga

Good news to note: it appears Dillon Gearhart intends to return despite participating in Senior Day. I believe everyone else that participated has moved on.

Nice starter list .. would only only add one at this point.

I think there will be 2 Niekamp's in the rotation this fall !!

Good breakdown. I would definitely add Bromagen to the O-Line contenders. Right now I have him as the starting C. The rest of these additions would be described as optional. Woodard and Wallace will also compete for time on the O-Line. Erickson and Sarna at DL. Omodia over Kirenga at CB. We may not see much of LB'er Bauer in '24 but he's like Niekamp. He gets to the right place and makes things happen.

Tye did take a redshirt... I wouldn't mind seeing Dexter take advantage of that as well. If he does, I could see another Fresh DPOY for the Niekamp's. It will be fun to have 2 on the field, that's for sure. Where do you think he could slot in? I don't know much but I could see him being the Jack or maybe Sam. I think he spent a lot of time on the Dline at Normal Community. 2 deep last year was Gaines and Edwards for Jack; Abdullah and Talley III for Sam. Starters should be solidified there but opportunities will come if he's ready.

I'm afraid we may not have Bromagen. He's not listed on the 2024 roster currently. That would be a big loss. We already lost Rios, Asche, and Bussone to graduation though Asche didn't play much last year - I think he was injured.

I just saw that - ouch. With Bussone and Bromagen gone we'll be inexperienced at C. Golden could play.
