Lourdes went 22-9 last season.

They played at Toledo, who went 27-8, in an exhibition game and lost 103-88.

We're still anticipating an exhibition sometime at the end of October, whether that is IWU or someone else. That should be the "knock the rust off" game. I understand they've gotta fill out the schedule but tough to start with an NAIA opponent and then head down to SLU. Talk about a 180 in mindset for the guys. I'm fine with it being on the schedule, just would have rather it been swapped with the EIU game or the first game back from the MTE. Though, given the break in the schedule there, I am assuming we'll get two conference games in the week of 11/27.
It’s all good though. Let’s get some confidence from the jump to head into a good non-con schedule, I like it.

I never liked the D2/3 game after the MTE tournament. It was always a let down and it never seemed to help us prepare for the following game just my opinion.

I would rather have a winnable D1 team to open but if we are playing a D2/3 let it be the first one

I dunno if it’s always that easy. ISU beat Greenville (D3) 177-108 and then finished the year 7-18 in 2020-21.

An NAIA team to start the year as a real game is not exciting. Even if they lost to Toledo last year by less than 20.

Schedule is better than last year so that’s all you can ask. Run the table at home in the non-con and please win at least 1 neutral court game.

Season will be here soon.

It's not exciting and honestly I'm worried for ISU if they can play a quality team like Toledo like that.

More things to like (P5 buy game, H/H w/ Saint Louis, six home games) than not (opening against member of Wolverine–Hoosier Athletic Conference, MTE sans any P5 schools (not since the Jankovich Invitational days)).

I guess we hope the home return with the Billikens does not go the same way as the football home return with Ball State.

Assuming the final roadie to Chicago State has simply been pushed back (or did we buy out of it ala Cardinals football)?

Long Beach State picked 1 and 2 in some early forecasters. Got solid returnees and a prior Top 100 transfer (now Junior) in from Stanford (why transfer from Stanford for a LBSU degree but hey who knows). Old school head coach has done decent with them

It’s possible, plus sometimes freshmen don’t know any better in a good way too. I’m hearing Pence & Lieb are good
Pops I did this a little bit tongue in cheek...yet not really. I actually believe if the veterans of our team really come together after 1.5 yrs with Ryan...and Kentucky's new roster...it's one of those things if everything goes right it is a winnable game. Call me kooky.

That’s not being kooky at all. Kentucky still have to play good ball I think. I’m not saying the cats would have to play their A Game but probably will need to play closer to that than a bad game. The experience of the returners should help.

Remember Evansville beat Kentucky a few years back. McCarty era went downhill fast from there, but you never know.

against who?
I would guess Norfolk State. Game is on the same weekend as the Horton game last year. The Saturday before finals week. Only other non-conference weekend home game is against NDSU the following Sunday. I doubt it would be then.
