It looks like the Eastern Illinois game was recently finalized for September 17th. I believe the NCAA is allowing teams to schedule 12 games for next fall. It appears the only possible weekends for games is August 28th or September 10th, but I would think we would want a bye week at some point (September 10th)? Could we possibly have a Big Sky/MVFC challenge game? I am intrigued to see what the 4th non conference game would be because the Valpo and Wisconsin games have the potential to not be very competitive. The last time we played 12 games was 2019 (NIU, EIU, Northern Arizona, Morehead St.)

Valpo changed their mascot/nickname to the BEACONS? Was "Crusaders" deemed offensive by some Socialist group with colored hair on campus?

I like the idea of a Big Sky game in '22. With two home non-con games (EIU-Valpo) we can do another road game. Weber State would make a good trip. Also in 2023 we still need a FBS game. There aren't many openings, but Navy is one school with plenty of vacancies. They don't play a FCS school every year but they played Holy Cross in 2019 and Lehigh in 2018. Navy has been down for the last couple of years so they may be looking to put a FCS school back on the schedule.

All FCS teams were allowed to schedule 12 regular season games in the 2019 season. A standard provision of NCAA bylaws allows for 12 regular season games during years having 14 Saturdays in the period starting with the Labor Day (first Monday in September) weekend and ending with the last Saturday of November. The next time that a 12-game regular season will be allowed is 2024.

You appear to be right! I really thought I saw they were allowing 12 somewhere, but I must be wrong.

I believe 2025 is also a 12 game season. That probably explains why we scheduled a home and home with North Alabama (2024 + 2025).
