2019 3X3 National Championship

ESPN has brought back its 3v3 tournament that it had last year. As a reminder, each Division I conference gets to send a team of seniors to play for money during the tournament. There is 150k on the line overall.

Last years team consisted of Donte Thomas, Brenton Scott, Tevonn Walker, and Bennett Koch.

This year we only have one player confirmed so far for the MVC, Jarred Dixon from Missouri State. You might remember him as the guy who nailed the buzzer beater against us.

Who else do you want to see?

I would be surprised if Custer/Townes don't join him. I think Phil should get a shot as well. McGlynn is interesting but I don't think his game would translate all that well to 3v3. I'd bet one of the seniors from SIU joins the squad. Pippen, Lloyd or Fletcher would be my guess.

My ideal team would be Fayne, Townes, and maybe Ellingson? Shooters are a must-have in 3v3. This team would need some more size.

I doubt Milik would play because I'm sure he's preparing to enter the NBA draft.

I am assuming McGlynn is out dur to injury otherwise he might be the best big option. I am also assuming you get 2 point for a three point shot and 1 point for a normal 2 point shot (not sure of rules) ... you have to value players that create in space and those that can knock down a three (now 2x vs 1.5x of normal 2 point shot)

I would also consider Ellingson. I don't think Phil's game translates well in 3v3

It's really what it is too. I'd love to see the MVC do well and Phil keep coming back at him periodically on twitter.

Not on ESPN but will begin Friday 4/5. The stream will be on twitter. Follow @3x3UHoops. The tournament begins with pool play. Here is the MVC's schedule:

4/5- 2:40 p.m. WCC vs MVC
4/5- 5:40 p.m. MVC vs Southland
4/6- 9:30 a.m. MVC vs OVC

We lack guards and will need McGlynn to hit some jumpers but I think we have a shot of going 3-0 here. Teams shouldn't be able to drive on us too well and if helpside is there, shots could get swatted. There will be a lot of driving and kickouts to open 3's. I hope these teams don't shoot too well.
