congrats to the 5 who made the preseason list .. I'm betting the "over" on the post season list .. minimum of 7-8 when these awards actually matter.

will be hard to beat out SDSU QB - he is good and that offense is fully locked and loaded with a lot coming back. But i can definitely see Kolbe getting 2nd team or honorable mention for sure .. need to have smart game plans based on who we are playing and where our OL development is each week. Got to pick our spots.

After very uneven start o season, Kolbe settled in nicely as season progressed .. less sacks, less picks. Here are 2016 QBR stat leaders for MVFC games ONLY

- Player Name, Cl, G, Comp-Att-Int, Pct, Yards, TD, Long, QBR

1. Christion,Taryn-SDSU SO 8 183 - 293 - 7 62.5 2560 19 70 152.5
2. Stick,Easton-NDSU SO 8 81 - 137 - 6 59.1 1144 10 65 144.6
3. Kolbe,Jake-ILS SO 8 146 - 239 - 3 61.1 1767 17 58 144.2
4. Streveler,Chris-USD JR 7 116 - 193 - 6 60.1 1440 13 75 138.8
5. McGuire,Sean-WIU SO 8 174 - 300 - 12 58.0 2154 16 68 127.9
6. Lambert,Brodie-MSU SR 8 142 - 253 - 14 56.1 1655 18 91 123.5
7. Harker, Isaac-INS SO 7 151 - 263 - 8 57.4 1705 11 85 119.6
8. Mays, Nathan-YSU FR 6 9 - 16 - 1 56.2 92 0 18 92.1

He had the lowest Pick Rate by far (MVFC games only) .. just 3 picks in 239 passes over 8 games. He had 2nd highest completion rate. Take away the egg he/we laid against YSU (10-26 for 134 yards 0 TD, 0picks), and his 144.2 QBR jumps to 152.

Our offensive identity struggle the first 6 games .. highs and lows, turnovers and sacks. Finally settled down when we made more commitment to run game. Sacks and turnovers dropped considerably 2nd half .. run game took off, and pass game became much more consistent. Kolbe's confidence and comfort in pocket grew as season progressed,.

Need good game plans that we stick to knowing what our OL is ready for each week ... and Kolbe will manage games very well and get results.

How come ISU never recruited the Taylor kid out of Macomb? From talking to people I heard he was never on their radar. How many other local players are we missing out on?

none, he is the only recruit we have ever missed on .. seems like silly loaded question.

p.s. local is very relative .. the Macomb kid is even more local to WIU than to ISU .. right ? Maybe he told ISU if he went FCS, only his hometown school had a shot ??
