The ‘Birds win over a Loyola last night gives them 9 wins, surpassing last year’s 8 wins, with at least 8 games remaining.

Although Loyola is not a very good team, and the ‘Birds certainly didn’t play a textbook game, there were some good things that portend well for the future.

Paige Saylor continues to improve at the point, both as a defender and a scorer. Katrina Beck took advantage of Loyola sagging to double our bigs and scored when it was critically important. Hannah Green never gives less than 110%, whether she’s on the floor or on the bench.

I would buy stock in this team’s future under Coach Gillespie. We should all be very excited about the future of Women’s Basketball at ISU.

All good praises...there is going to be upside in improvement in Saylor when the coach is invested in her individual development and growth. She is averaging 40min a game which for sure is a confidence builder and that has improved. Hannah for sure is a fighter to the end and sparks energy from her team. The team is strong defensively but we still need much improvement and investment in offensive sets n scoring and getting better involvement from additional guard play from the team. Need to make teams pay more often when they want to double n triple the bigs, in most games Goods is always very well guarded. As other teams know we focus on our inside strength. Goods is good but looking forward to her n Hannah being 100% for conference play.

Nice team effort to beat Valpo. Big shot by Beck, 3 treys by Livingston, terrific free throw shooting by Good. Bright future for Coach Gillespie and this team!
