Bloomington HS grad with 1 year of eligibility. I'd love to see us go after him.
Yes pleaseBadger WR in the portal, Tommy McIntosh, 6-5, 210 lbs from DeWitt Michigan. 3 star out of HS. BUT apparently never saw the field in Madison. Decent HS stats. Lots of offers out of HS- Ivy League, MAC and some "Big 5".

Interesting, mainly because of how much SDSU loses this offseason .. less so, because his OC went there. Not one of our guys, but SDSU QB Gronowski is NOT following his offensive coordinator to Northwestern. He's staying for another year at SDSU.
Nice post ... 2 thingsI'd say it's time to crack a beer and celebrate! Another portal transfer period has come and gone, and our losses have been minor. The only names I am aware of are WR David Connors Jr. and LS Claude Strnad. You don't want to lose anyone, but neither was a projected starter. I suspect that both are looking for better playing opportunities and I wish them well.
The Redbirds played good portal defense. Now we get to go on offense. I imagine we'll pick up a player or two soon and they could be good ones. I think I said this last year but I'll say it again. The spring transfers take a big risk. You've missed the chance to play spring ball at the school to which you are transferring and that makes it hard to win a starting position. In August you'll be going up against players that already know the system, the coaches and teammates. If you're an FBS transfer looking for playing time you might want to consider a quality FCS program. Otherwise, you could just end up back on the sidelines of another FBS program.
Lastly, shoutout and credit to Coach Spack. When NIL and the transfer portal came into being there was some doom and gloom being tossed around. The FBS was supposed to take all our players but that hasn't happened. Coach Spack played college football and learned to coach in a different era. He didn't ask for any of these changes, but he's adapted, and old dog has learned new tricks.
May is the time to pick up some transfers. We've got the ball now and we're on offense in the portal. #RedbirdsRising
April 30, May 1 were spring deadlines to enter the portal. Once in, a player can chose any school that offers him and he just needs to decide before the fall semester enrollment deadline for that school.2. I have given up on portal and transfer rules ... so forgive the question, but how can we pick up more transfers after May 1 ? Noting Grad Transfers only got 1 extra day in Portal (thru May 1) compared to all other Portal transfers (thru 4/30).
Sorry to hear about Connors, I always had high hopes for him, tall rangy WR, he got a fair amount of press as a HS kid in Minneapolis, led his team quite a ways in the playoffs. Very possible I'll see him play some DIII football in Minnesota, altho lots of DII opportunities in Minnesota if he decides to go that route.I'd say it's time to crack a beer and celebrate! Add Golden to the list but I don't think his departure frees up a scholarship. I believe he was a wo. Golden was in the mix at the Center position but behind Boden Turner and Elijah Wroten. The following players have been removed from the online roster @ goredbirds.com...
David Connors, Jr
John Golden Jr
There have been no other deletions or additions that I can see.
I wish Loyd would have played in the spring game. Rubley looked good, but he overthrew some of his receivers pretty badly at times. Having Loyd as a reference point would have been nice. In any case, QB looks to be in good hands for a while.Add Golden to the list but I don't think his departure frees up a scholarship. I believe he was a wo. I think Connors would have played at WR but not a lot. I've got Sobkowicz, Loyd, Crawford and Contreras in the 2-deep at WR.
Rubley overthrows ... strong arm combined with too much adrenaline maybe ??I wish Loyd would have played in the spring game.
