As for the game, gotta have this one. For the love of all that's holy, let's not have a repeat of last year's home opener. Did some nice things the first two games, and some things that need fixing. Build off both. Come out and get the job done.

EIU turned the Illini over 12 times. Last year, we had 16 versus the Panthers. Take care of the basketball and eliminate their 3-point shooting (37% on the year | 2/18 last year in this game) and we should win by 10+. EIU returns four and has nine newcomers and was picked last in the OVC. Not saying this is a must-win, but if this is a loss I think there's a good amount of tough questions that need to be asked.

How about we not have a repeat of EIU last year either. That was one of the more painful wins I've had to watch. Only won by 5 and relied on a season-high 10 points from Petrakis.

Ahhh let’s not mess around with our slow starts. EIU jumped out to a 15-6 lead over the Illini. We’re not good enough to slough ANYONE off…..yet. Keep it in perspective here. Just win!!!

Last time EIU was here, was a Tuesday night right after Christmas in '98 and somehow more than 8200 were in the building. How did that happen? Even during those years that's an impressive number for a Tuesday night break game.

But no matter, that was then. Just win tomorrow.

Flip the 8 and 2 around and that will be more like the attendance for this game. 2800.

Sadly, close to 100% of those 8,200 who were 45 y/o or older at that game in 1998 are either deceased or are not physically able to attend tomorrow’s game.
How many of the students (Red Rage) who were in attendance at that game (who are now in that 45 y/o range) will be in attendance tomorrow night?
Sad that the students at that game were the last students to have been a part of Redbird basketball playing in the NCAA tournament.

I said something similar in another thread, where it's sad to realize current students have never seen RA packed, or been part of a full, STANDING (Heaven forbid students in a student section actually stand at a f'ing college basketball game), student section except for the Horton game last year, unless they came to games as a kid and saw the place full and rocking during the Jank & early DM years.

I was in the student section for the Bradley game in 2022 and was yelled at for standing. I was in the second row and it was early in the first half. Unfortunately, it can be a toxic environment for the students who want to stand and actually participate in the student section. I hope that is not the case this year. We need RBA rocking like it was even as recently as 2019.

That's so asinine. Students should be yelled at for sitting. I remember in my years AT LEAST Reggie would find sitting students and give them shit, and they'd put them on the jumbotron until they stood. Silly, but it worked.
