Wow….that was fun to watch, thanks for sharing it. Those memories are why I love ISU basketball. Doug Collins, Lamb, Hank the Tank, Lou, Duncan, Mckenney, Ricky Johnson (still my favorite Redbird). Gibbons,Ricky Jackson, Tarise, Skip, Jamar, Leroy, Dan. Kyle, Jackie, Osiris,Paris, etc.

Standing room only at RA? Is that possible again? If Pedon can get us back to that kind of winning and fun atmosphere, just start working on his statue outside the arena.

That was awesome... don't change a thing in that video and keep adding as the incredible memories continue to happen. Should be played before every game on the scoreboard.

BIG kudos to whoever put this together. I don't know if it was one person...or 10. But they captured particular moments - not just the obvious ones. Somebody had input that personally witnessed decadeszzz worth of games...with special unique moments that gives the true fan giant goose pimples. Forget the shot (one of the very best game-winners we've ever had) - watching Jeppson hug his family?? Just freakin' wonderful. The Rickey to Jarrod no-look quick zip and slam? Yes, Cooper's 3 was dynamite going off, but that slam was the loudest I've ever heard Redbird. It wasn't just an explosion. It was this deeeeep low-pitched roar. So lucky to have been there. Those earlier 80's teams and back-to back-to back tourney dances?? You were so lucky to have been there. The Smithson run and magnifico basketball? MAN you were lucky. Wait. You saw The Jet?? Screw you, ya lucky bastards!!

So many good players. Tell ya this. Rickie Johnson would start for any ISU squad, any time. The emotional component and confidence he brought was greater than his physical abilities, which btw, were impressive. Not the best player we've ever seen, but his heart and leadership. My goodness.

One more thing. I'm terribly biased, but I always believed that with a fully staffed squad...we had a shot in '98 against Arizona. That team would manage to hang with almost any team in the country in '98 with a full healthy roster...and I believe SI had them #16 in their pre-season poll.

Before this damn D1 split happens, can we PLEASE get back to The Dance and win some games?!??!??? Urgency. Not 5 yrs from now. Soon. I want some new memories, dammit.

THANK YOU to this video production team. GORGEOUS.

Wonderful. Derrick Sanders sighting. One of my favorites, quiet and smooth.

Lotsa good memories. Pedon gets it. Onward and upward.

I may be biased because he played 3 of the 4 years I was at ISU, but I believe Derrick Sanders was awesome and one of the Redbirds most underrated basketball players. He was the only senior on a team that made it to the third round of the NIT. He was a multi faceted player.

So I just want to say thank you to everyone, I know the person who put the video together and am really glad he did this. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do and hopefully he sees all the comments because it absolutely gave me chills just watching the highlights. Reliving some of the past games and moments from the 96-97 team, 97-98 team, Stallings and the stare, the Jeppson 3, Tarise, Osiris, Rico and the Bradley games. They were all special.

Now ill take a moment and forgive myself as I am 38 but even until watching the video I never knew how good the 80s teams were. I heard the names but I didn't know how special the 82-83, 83-84 and 84-85 teams were. I knew the names Ricky Johnson, Lou Stefanovich, Michael McKenny and know how talented they were and where they stand in the record books but 3 straight trips to the NCAA tournament and 2 straight trips to the 2nd round that's really special.

Really glad everyone enjoys the video and looking forward to more great memories from Coach Pedon and staff.

Absolutely incredible. With the lack of post-season success in the Muller-era (and before), it's easy to forget about some of those big wins along the way. Particularly, against Wichita when they were ranked. Ultimately, they won the war most years, but the Birds won some very important battles.

This is a great time capsule of Redbird Basketball. Here's to adding some great highlights this season.

Great video! Every current student needs to watch that...repeatedly.

And on a semi-related note, here's my final project for a film production class in '08. The first Red Alert commercial lol.

I will admit my ignorance to '70s '80s ISU ball...I was a Southside kid with an Uncle that played for a tourney team that lost to a helluva Michigan team under Coach Ray @ DePaul and considered walking on there or to UIC for hoops but became a lifetime 'Bird instead.

Seeing the Horton stuff is electrifying. God, I wish I could have been there...

I will never understand the Donewald dismiss: strictly administrative? His record, Getting RA, Huh?
Caveat: The next comments are just on face value...Never met the man, but Pedon seems like a Porter/Bender guy.
No one wants to be more wrong than me. I hope it works Me and my daughters will be full-bore.

As far as ISU basketball history I actually can attest to as a media relations assistant, Vidette Sports Editor, practice player, team chef, security guard, and season ticket holder (finally during the Jank years):

Let's get it out of the way - the Dan play against Tennessee

"The Stare"

Rico owning Madison in Round 2... that was one helluva ride back down I-39

Coop, KS during NIT "bench time"...eternally celebratory

KS pushing Skipp in the wheelchair still brings tears to my eyes

Walking down the street with Molinari in the rain in St. Louis from then "Kiel and him just talking about life not rivalry
Kyle Cartmill's step-up against Arizona when, as a coach, that game was winnable, but we were so banged up

Gibby's Senior Night speech. Big East never failed

Everything Jepp. Sean is such a good dude that never knew how good he was
Osiris was exceptional but oddly used with the influx of the 2 bigs

JOKE: I can't resit: ISU is my UCLA. Wait, it really is.

The last second win over Tennessee was great too
