Boring?? Going to have to put up 30+ 3's just to be close in the game.
I don’t think this team will be boring to watch at all. Being at UVA games last season I personally know the difference when I see it. Coaches have their own philosophy on the game. Boring works for some. So the point is whether boring or not the bottom line is wins and that’s what we all want.

I believe starter will be Burford,

I believe it will be Burford, Knight

I believe Burford, Kasubke, Knight, Andrews and McChesney. I think Malachi will be first player off the bench. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him start or play lots of minutes with Burford in the backcourt. Mal can run the point with any lineup as well. Sand age is the wildcard to this team. The catch will be which line up is the best defensively.
Would be interesting if Andrews starts over Schmitt and Lewis... probably a good sign for depth up front.

I would have thought Lewis would be a starter. He was one of out better defenders, decent rebounder, and not bad shooting 3s from the corner. He also brought a lot of energy

I think that looks pretty accurate, but I’d swap Andrews for Lewis. The bench will be very solid.

Different coaches see the same players in different lights. So it’s possible Pedon sees Andrew’s as a good fit inside his system, whereas Dan couldn’t find the right fit for Alston. Andrew’s and Sissoko both seem to do better when the offense had some structure, but Dan’s offense always seem to rely on players generating their own offense.

Same might be true of Kotov, but never saw enough of him to get a sense of his strengths.

For clarification: I see us as a .500 squad.

Interesting how a lot of the haters do not understand that is the definition of mediocre.

Why there are 3-5 trolls on here that feel the need to dance on Muller's chair is beyond me.
Pedon has yet to put a a squad on the floor. He has a coaching style very similar to my own, so I believe it can work depending on scheduling.

Yay! A roster of practice players.
I get it. I finally understand what you’re saying. You wanna feel good at the end of the year, so you’re setting your expectations to zero. That way the Birds will exceed your expectations no matter how they do. It’s a brilliant strategy. Just like misspelling birds in your screen name.

You confuse expectations with dreams. I am with the pouty party about not settling for mediocrity. Coach Muller himself admits it was time to turn the wheel. The Lambast of some posters on here, however, is ridiculous.

For the record, my last name is Birgells. When I played/coached/taught/cooked/tutored/wrote/represented ISU I was known as either Mr. B. or Birgs.

Eat turf, tool.

Pouty. Got it. Good description.

Not sure what to make of the "dreams v. expectations" comment. Are you saying you have no dreams for the Birds? Or no expectations? And your comments have come when someone mentions this year's team not Muller's, so how do your dour--pouty--comments correlate to Pedon's team? Or is this just the lingering malaise of past seasons you just can't shake?

And, finally, why the name calling? Seems kinda lambastic to me . . .

Dreams = what Gonzaga has become. Or even a short run like Loyola or Butler.

Expectations would be 20-10, minimum #3 seed in St. Louis and enough grit/talent to make it to the Sunday game. More TV games against the big boys, even if we lose, we get our name out there.

I am a vey proud alumnus, but understand where we stand. That's dreams vs. expectations.

And how do these two posts relate?

I would assume by the first that you have zero expectations of this year's team. That has been my point. The other post is really just a rehash of what everyone would love to see, yet have rarely seen since Stallings left. And how can you possibly understand where this year's team stands at this point?

I don't see any scenario where Lewis isn't starting.
I agree with this, and for that matter, I find it hard to believe Petrakis isn't going to start, especially if Pedon likes to "play through the post" as advertised.

So I'd say, based on nothing other than my "genius" - ;) - Lewis, Petrakis, Burford, Knight, and then chose among Sandage/Poindexter/Kasubke.

If Andrews has gotten himself into the top 8 among that crew, plus McChesney and Sissoko and Schmitt, God bless him. It would be great!
