There are a couple of guys on that NCHS team worth keeping an eye on. Trey Redd and Crofton Perry are a really good backcourt. Very smart and interchangeable at the PG spot. Redd is more of a scorer and Perry is more of a distributor.

I coached Crofton when he was in 8th grade. Really good kid that loves basketball. Cleveland was expected to be on the team that year as well but didn't end up playing due to a parental decision. It's an unlikely get. That article didn't give me a good feeling. Seems he wants to go to as big a school as possible that he would pass up playing for his high school in favor of AAU.

If there is high school basketball and if fans are allowed I highly recommend getting out and watching NCHS. And yes... this is coming from a Bloomington grad. They're a good, fun team to watch.

31 points and 14 rebounds last night. Hope we decide to give him an offer

I'm surprised he only has one D1 offer right now (from SEMO). Kind of reminds me of Chris Payton a bit in that the reason he scores at such a high rate is because he's catching the ball deep in the post. At 6'7, he's kind of a tweener. In college, would he be expected to be a wing, a post-player, or a combo of the two? His high school game is very much that he is bigger than most the kids out there and has good athleticism and touch around the rim. He's not much of a shooter. I'm guessing D1 coaches would like to see a stroke develop over this summer in AAU and his senior season.

The offers will come.

I was hoping he would be able to play the wing. I'm sure if he landed at ISU he would at least receive some action at the 4 if we are running the same offense. I'm sure you are more familiar with him and his abilities than I am though. I do remember reading an article earlier (I believe from the Pantagraph?) about the power 5 interest he was starting to get. But then again, I'm sure most mid major player receive a certain degree of power 5 "interest". I love the idea of landing the hometown kid. We've had too many local players slip away.

Cleveland in the past 2-3 years plays for the same program I help out with he's just a grade lower than the team I coach. He can definitely shoot. Not elite but im not sure he gets his opportunities in the more structured system at NC

At the 4? Not sure we have those.

It’s always fun to project high school players’ potential as D1 college players. But I caution that relative to local area players, we were lucky with Jeppson, Randy Blair, and Matt Taphorn. We were not so lucky with Dan Cox, Pekin’s Dirk Williams, the Metamora 6’8” kid who transferred to ISU, Andy Strandmark from Geneseo, Jon Litwiller from Morton, and I’ll even include Bill Braksick from Flanagan and there was another kid from Flanagan. Area kids seem to have more impact with our football team.

His mother, Marla is in the ISU Hall of Fame. His sister is an All-Big Ten Volleyball player at Purdue.

Sounds like he’s had a pretty good weekend. I’m sure offers will start rolling in.

I work with his Dad - said that Brian Jones has a son, who plays on the same team. But, told me Zach is getting attention from a lot of schools and expects to have more offers. I asked if most of these coaches are talking to the parents or just Zach - not many are talking with the parents, which surprised me.

In the paint he can finish with is off hand. Impressive since many college players always come back to their strong hand.
