This might be OT, my apologies if it is, but just saw a headline with a link to a paid site that Western Illinois will now sell alcohol at football games. Something we have talked about.

High school/college students routinely attend sporting events, concerts, festivals..etc where alcohol is sold and consumed. Lollapalooza each year has a few hundred thousand high school and college age kids attending and alcohol is everywhere. ISU permits alcohol at tailgating events held on their parking lots. The alcohol consumption at ISU tailgating is unmonitored for the most part yet it happens on ISU properties. It would seem to be an easy decision to sell alcohol inside ISU sporting events as ISU can ID all buyers. I just do not see why it is a big deal especially since ISU selectively does it now in certain areas of football games. This might entice some fans to stay longer/avoid leaving the games early....especially at football games.

Good for WIU. Hopefully we can follow suit by 2019.

I'd like to propose a new customer based drinking policy at Hancock ... so to show our wonderful guest from WIU some hospitality, I hereby decree the WIU game will permit drinking.

Good point. In an effort to be welcoming and inclusive, this gesture needs to happen.

Need some help from our friend Lawson .. grassroots efforts always work best. Let's all threaten to boycott that game unless drinking is allowed.

I have a friend who talked with the ticket office staff the other day. They told him that the plan is to have beer for sale for the 2019-2020 athletic year. We will see how true that is...?

I love drinking as much as the next guy, probably more, but do we really need drinking at a college football game? Can't people go 3 hours w/o a beer? Hate to sound like an old fart. Sell it in the end zone, sell it in the suites, but I don't know why we need it in the "stands". Just one more hassle factor.

Quinn .. I think someone needs a little "timeout" to think about making a little attitude adjustment. I move that we revoke madbirds posting privileges until he demonstrates a more appropriate attitide .. 90 days ought to do it.

I have mixed emotions about this. I do not drink. So it does not affect my attendance one way or another. I worry about over imbibing and driving after the games. Seems not right at a college event on some level. If you talk to some BU fans, it is part of the incentive to go to the games. And I don't mind someone having a beer while watching the game. It may be a necessity watching the Braves :) It just seems, sometimes, for any event anymore a big number of folks want alcohol there. Yeah, I do think it would help our attendance to an extent. Not saying it's right, just stating what's probably obvious.

I wouldn't call it a need.....but it's nice to have the option of sipping on a couple of brews throughout the game....especially if you're going with some friends/casual fans who want came into town to make it a fun weekend and who are chomping at the bit to leave the game at halftime or thereabouts in order to maintain their tailgate buzz by going to the pub.

Also, how would serving beer at the game Not be a money maker as well. I am sure ISU will sell beers for at least $6 minimum.... when it probably cost less than $1 to serve.
Probably better margins than hot dogs & nacho's.

dude .. congrats .. but this does nothing to help us. So stop being so selfish ( ;) ) .. see the motion above to have customer based alcohol consumption policy. Need you and Lawson to start campaign by boycotting attendance of your road game to ISUr this year unless we do the hospitable thing for our guests that game and allow drinking .. all fans, not just WIU. Need your help here !!

You may have noticed that Bud Light arena advertising appeared at RA last season. Alcohol ads for the first time. It might be a precursor.
