Great hosts, great atmosphere. Definitely something a college football fan should experience at least once.

Well, no one's perfect. From today's Madison paper:

UW-Madison police reported that 27 people were ejected from Camp Randall Stadium and 19 people were arrested during Saturday’s game between the Badgers and Illinois State.

Of the 27 people ejected, 18 were UW students, and of the 19 arrested, 16 were UW students, police said in a statement detailing the numbers.

Mirroring arrests, 19 people were ticketed during the game, with 16 being UW students, police said.
Those ticketed and ejected included 19 for underage drinking.

Of the eight people ejected without being ticketed, three were for possession of alcohol, two for disorderly conduct, and one each for seating issue/student section, tobacco usage, and intoxication. (Some received multiple citations.)

Out of 75K+, that's prolly not so bad.

I was at a high school game in central Indiana Friday night and watched 2 idiots get removed for acting a fool. Two "Oh Yeah" boys. Pretty comical. Maybe 500 in attendance. I guess those Camp Randall numbers are pretty good.

Not going to reiterate many of the same points that have already been made, but I haven't seen this one made anywhere so here it is:

I'd take a roster full of guys who give the effort Franky West gave on those 2 long breakaway plays. Nothing but respect for him displaying that effort and God given speed, and certainly wish a guy like that nothing but success.

Comment from today's Madison paper's preview of Badgers vs. Washington State game, under keys for Cougars in the game:

Move the defensive front: The final statistics don’t show it, but Illinois State’s defense was actually somewhat effective for stretches of the opener — UW created big plays that helped it pull away. Multiple offensive linemen and running back Braelon Allen said that the Redbirds’ movement up front pre-snap was a bit confusing. Washington State didn’t show line movement often in its opener, but it should consider it.

So, okay, some things did go right. Keep it up.

I watched the first half again last night. I came away with a pretty good feeling watching it again. The first half was for the most part just two big plays by the Badgers. A bad interception returned for a touchdown but the Birds would have likely come away with a field goal at least if not for the big QB mistake. The 96-yard touchdown run was also a mistake by the Birds. The Birds D hit the Running back in the backfield but let him bounce off and then it was just a foot race. He is one of the best RBs in the Big 10 and will make some Big 10 defenders miss as well. Except for the two huge mistakes the first half could have easily been 3-3 halftime. I did not bother with the second half since in these types of games the bigger roster and more talented team usually show up big in the second half. There were some good things in the game for ISU. Tossing an interception on your opponent's goal line always hurts you even if it is not a pick-six. I am looking for a good game from the Birds tonight!
