I gotta believe the only way to keep it close is if we get them looking past what should be an easy victory for the Badgers.
No idea, but 21-13 UW?

Here is Sports Illustrated Big 10 prediction for Wisconsin .. glad to hear their vaunted 2021 defense will need to reload - they were #1 in total yards and #2 in total points ... still expected to be very stout apparently.

2021 Pick: 4th in Big 10
2021 record: 9-4 (6-3 Big Ten)

Where Wisconsin is right now: Most of this defense — a unit that ranked No. 1 ahead of Georgia in the nation in yards allowed and was second in points surrendered — won't come back in 2022, but with the coaching and depth on offer here, the unit should still be among the best in the nation.

But what can the Badgers get out of quarterback Graham Mertz? He was a sub-2,000 yard passer last season with 10 scores and 11 picks. Any rebuilding project there will depend on how well Wisconsin re-supplies at receiver. Good thing Wisconsin gets lead rusher Braelon Allen back — the youngster carried for 1,268 yards last season with 12 touchdowns and a nearly 7 ypc average and is running behind a line made of solid oak.

Unfortunately, 38-10. Largest crowd ever to see the Birds play.
I went back and looked at the largest crowds ISU has played in front of each year from 2006 to now. Camp Randall says it can hold 80,321 which would be the winner for sure if it sells out.

2021- @Western Michigan 18,122- I was there no way this number is accurate
2020- haha
2019- @Northern Illinois- 14,568
2018- @Colorado State- 26,259 I question this number as well. We talked to the head of security and it seems as a lot of "ghost tickets were sold"
2017- Home vs Indi State- 13,391
2016- @ Northwestern 30,748- And we won!
2015- @Iowa- 59,450- Good lord it was Hot
2014- Frisco- 20,918- I still need therapy.
2013- @YSU-16,593
2012-@ App State 16,719- I think this is the game we won on a blocked extra point in the playoffs
2011- @NDSU- 18,904
2010- @ Northwestern-25,471- It rained all day, it kept people away
2009- @Illinois- 62,377
2008-@Marshall- 25,661
2007-@Missouri- 56,137
2006-@Kansas St.- 47,250

Interesting stuff.

It was reported in the local paper earlier this year that the average # of scanned tickets last year at the Camp was 57,500 per game. Average announced attendance, including staff and media was 73,400+. Game vs. Cal Poly in 2008 had just under 51K scanned. Last year's E.Mich game had just under 56K scanned, and last game of the year vs. Nebraska had 50,700 scanned.

Anyway, chances are it won't be the winner. You never know, since how the attendance is counted most likely isn't comparable.

Seeing a few places that have opened the lines

Illinois State +33

Over / under 38.5
If I was a gambling man and able to legally bet on Illinois colleges in this state....I'd be hammering that over.....

Either we have a decent first half and keep it respectable and they stomp on the gas pedal in the 3rd Q, or they do that right out of the gate and we put a couple points up in mop up time.

In either case:

Badgers 42
Redbirds 13

I'm seeing something in range of 34 to 10. It might be interesting for a quarter or do.

But Spack will try very hard to keep defensive lid on this final score, know we have 2 patsies and a bye before hitting MVFC grinder.

Hope im wrong and our offense comes out ready to make a few plays

I'm looking forward to seeing lots of Redbirds in action. In the offensive backfield we could see Annexstad and Rittenhouse at QB, Mueller, Wright and White at RB, Presson and Gothelf at FB/H when we use one. We may go even deeper.

The intensity is definitely going up a notch. I watched the Penn St. - Purdue game last night and I saw DB's going in low and hard on tackles taking out the legs. You don't see that a lot in intrasquad scrimmages. Even when they go full contact you seldom see defenders coming in hot and driving through the legs because you never want to injure a teammate. This ain't no stinkin' scrimmage:ROFLMAO:. All QB's are fair game with full intensity. 70,000 people do not come to watch flag football.
