I thought this was interesting. Coming into this season these were our Top 6 returning receivers (# of receptions)

1 TE Bryson Deming
2 WR Jabari Khepra
3 TE Tanner Taula
4 RB Cole Mueller
5 WR Tristan Bailey
6 WR J'Kalon Carter

These are our Top 6 so far this season

1 TE Tanner Taula
2 Slot Jalen Carr
3 WR Daniel Sobkowicz
4 RB Wenkers Wright
5 TE Bryson Deming
6 WR Brock Annexstad

One thing has stayed the same - sort of. The TE position remains at the top but the script has been flipped. Taula is now the leading receiver. Deming has been nursing an injured ankle. Vandenburgh may have done the smart thing by resting his bruised knee. If you try play through an injury it can linger and that may be what is happening with Deming.
But after you get away from the TE position the situation has completely changed. None of the other 4 returning leading receivers are in this season's Top 6. Mueller is out and Bailey has also battled an injury. Carter has played this season and played well, but he has been absent recently. Khepra is the biggest mystery. I know he was injured prior to the season but I thought that was behind him. Maybe not. If anybody knows please chime in.

Right now, Carr and Buckner are moving to the forefront. Sobkowicz and Annexstad are dependable pass catchers and Wright is dangerous out of the backfield. It's nice to spread the ball around but we're still looking for a Go-To guy. A guy that can beat the other team's best cover corner and draw the safety to him if he goes deep. A guy good for about 50 catches and 800 yards receiving for the season. Maybe he'll emerge or maybe we will be ok with receiver by committee. I guess I'd like to have another year of eligibility for Laurent Robinson.

A lot of good commentary. I have started to wonder about Carter. I did see him on the field some against Indiana State though. Another guy I haven't seen much of lately is Treshawn Watson. I think he was seeing a lot more PT at the beginning of the season. According to goredbirds, Khepra participated against South Dakota and Indiana State in recent weeks, but has yet to have any receptions on the season. Maybe he has been just on special teams?
