Non-sexy potential name. Jeff Smith- Assoc. HC at Oakland. He's a LONG time assistant and appears to be a solid recruiter. Never been a HC. First D1 job was at Central Michigan in 1999. He was an assistant at Utah from 2007-2011 (Brennan connection). He's in his second stint as assoc. hc at Oakland. He's hopped around quite a bit with assistant jobs at CMU, Oakland, Utah, UC Riverside, and back to Oakland.

AD Brennan is a very personable guy and I’m sure through his conversations with many fans he’s been getting his short list in order; guessing he wanted to give the b-ball staff the benefit of doubt w/Covid and the new Portal process last spring.
Brennan got a dose of the situation and then came the Evansville road loss which confirmed his Worst Nightmare…….these guys can’t win when they load the bus and sleep in their away pj’s.
He told me first hand we were in big trouble when Sy went down……and yes, he was spot on with that assessment.
YES, I believe he’s got his short list and probably has made an offer to his bestie…….whether or not that particular dude is comfy with parameters of offer is where it stands. In this biz u gotta have a plan b or c in your pocket.
Brennan is a confident guy and my guess is he’ll deliver. This opportunity has been nagging at him since he moved to town.

Unless it's Krystkowiak which I can't imagine we could evenly remotely afford or persuade
Just a quick question about the firing, did the Board of Trustees have to approve it? If so when did they? He was fired the morning after a bad loss. Was there a special meeting called ? I assume that is public record, but I am not savvy enough to find it.

You have people on here telling you guys names to watch. ESPN’s Borzello did an article telling you guys it’s Powell, Prohm, or Frazier. Yet you guys still throw out “Utah connections” that don’t make sense.

The article didn’t say definitively it’s one of those three. If you’re taking that as the facts, then you have to mention the article also listed Chris Collins as a potential candidate.
I’ve heard for quite some time that there is a clear cut and dry top 3. The three you listed make sense but I wouldn’t rule out someone with Utah ties.

I’ve heard rumors and a lot more names than have made it here and not a single one has been a Utah tie mentioned here.
Our Athletic Director, you know the guy making the decision. Spent quite a few years (13) working for Utah.
Jans name has been brought up here quite a bit.
