I’m also curious what an acceptable length contract would be in everyone’s eyes. I start with a 4 year, so who ever takes the job could potentially see their freshman recruits through as seniors.

It looks like Kyle agreed closer to us than you and the hey hey gang. If it were up to you Dan would have had a lifetime deal.
I was ready for a change also. I just didn’t feel the need to piss people off on this forum just to be heard. And I’m pretty sure that Kyle didn’t make his decision based your posting on here. Several of us on here wanted a change. We just handled it in a more mature way, unlike you and some of your buddies on here bitching constantly.

I sort of agree with this, but now with the portal, you can theoretically get "your guys" on the floor in a couple years. Maybe times change. But at least 4 seems reasonable.

Well we had to listen to your shit for way too long.
Sorry, Iet me make sure I understand...

So, me saying I was withholding any donations until change is made to a program that has been awful for 22 of the last 24 years means I'm a horrible person and not a true fan?
And, true to my word, now that change has been made, my saying I will now donate what I can (not as much as I'd like because I have two daughters in college) is means for more ridicule?

Got it - thanks.

I like 5 years.

I think it takes at least 2- 3 years to get your recruits up to speed. By year 4 you should show improvement and even more by year 5.

If you read my last line it specifically stated that I lacked IT skills. So sorry that I don’t understand how all this works.
Lol...my comment was sarcastic. Do you really think sources are cited APA style on a chat board? They are clearly done with MLA! (Sarcasm, 2022).

I would not take a chance on Marshall for reasons that should be obvious. To go along with those reasons, he now

I think locking someone up to a long-term contract is a little overrated at a mid-major. If the coach does great, he is gone. If he does bad, the University is stuck with a bad contract.

Roger Powell Jr-Gonzaga Assistant
Brandon Brantley-Purdue Assistant
Paul Lusk-Purdue Assistant
Luke Yaklich-UIC Head Coach
Dean Oliver-Wisconsin Assistant
Steve Prohm-Former Iowa State & Murray State Head Coach
Dane Fife-Indiana Assistant
Chris Lowery-Kansas State Assistant

Could someone put together a poll to vote on who you would pick for the new Head Coach? Maybe allowed to pick 3 since RPJ would probably be everyone’s first choice.
(I would, but lack the IT skills)
Is anyone interested in doing this?

I think this is pretty spot on. I'd add in that when you are recruiting early on it looks good to a recruit to think you will be here for their whole career. So to me 5 years feels right.

Tommy Lloyd had never had head coaching experience and is dominating at Arizona. Scheyer is taking over Duke without experience. It’s nothing to be scared of. I’d rather try it than some of these retreads you guys are clamoring for.

From what I have heard, Jans has gone through some good rehabilitation. But he has it rolling at NMSU and seems destined to be in P6 by Spring 2024 at the latest, so I doubt he’s that interested. Gordon isn’t even a recruiting AC at OU so that is tough sell. I don’t see Becker or a Nova assistant being interested.

I’d be hesitant hiring anyone associated with Kyle’s time at Utah. He was there for 14 years to only see 3 NCAATs. There was also overlap with Jim Boylen. Yuck.

Lavall Jordan will likely be let go by Butler and he crosses lots of boxes. He’s been around a lot of smart guys, is only 42, has had a couple of good years, and he has ties to IN, MI, WI, and IA.

Brad Soderberg is also someone I’d look at. Won a natty as an AC at UVA and was recently demoted (which made sense with today’s recruiting climate). He is only 59. I think he’d be interested considering his son is HC at Milikin. ISU also makes sense for a guy who has spent most of career in Wisconsin and the STL area.

I don’t think Tommy Lloyd and Powell are that comparable- other than they have worked for Few at Gonzaga. Lloyd had been there 20 years and was pretty widely considered the top assistant coach in the NCAA. He could have left a LONG time ago, but he loved being there. He recruits at another level.
