I did not buy season tickets this year due zero interesting home games early (Xavier, Eastern then on the road) in the year. MVC should consider scheduling some conference games early in the season when weather nice and fans more likely to attend. Play the St Xaviers and Easterns in November.


ISU looking vry good x the last pass that was intercepted. Poor choice on that play as there were defenders all around the receiver.

I't's totally humiliating. B-N fools want a perfect day to come. As it turned out we have had good, but not great weather for all of our games so far.

It would be nice if more season ticket holders came into the game. There are hundreds, if not thousands of people who continue to tailgate rather than come in. Right now, you don't really want to anger those season ticket holders because you are reliant on their WSF donations and season ticket revenues to run this department.

They are able to track ticket usage. Why not find what season ticket holders attend 2 or fewer of the 6 games. Reach out to them and ask if they would be willing to donate some of their tickets back. I bet a lot would, especially for garbag games like St. X. Then sell those and plow the proceeds back into the program. For those donating tickets back, give them a 25 or 30% off coupon for an item from the online team store. They'll still make a ton of money because of the markup on those products.

Before complaining about STH, I would encourage someone to buy tickets to at least 3 FB games or 5 basketball games. Whether you use them or give the tickets away, work yourself to get people into the seats and help boost attendance.

I wish we had more students come to games and stay at games. However, we would not have RBA or new Hancock without them paying for 90+% of it.

With new leadership in areas of the department, I'm excited to see their ideas. Things seem to be much better off right now. For example, have you seen Chris Highland back in action doing development. He was an amazing hire to boost development, especially with raising for the indoor. While we won't see more money than our deal with Learfield gives us right now, I am excited selling our portfolio of sponsorships in the future should be more valuable unless that is brought back in house.

not sure they can sell the same ticket twice ?? Is it not practical to do a "Unused ticket exchange" for STH to put their "unused" tickets into and only charge a nominal admin fee for the transactions .. just to fill the seats. Make it very affordable and online .. thinking 5 bucks online, or 10 bucks if at the gate or ticket office.

Just promote it to death to ensure we have more butts in seats. Might cut into walk-up business .. so maybe that is flawed idea. But it could also encourage more last minute walkups if they know that is viable option ... that would work well for event games with questionable weather forecast that seem to scare people away too easily.

It's been a few years but I always turned my unused basketball tickets in to be resold. Started doing it in the Becky days. Has something changed?

Watched a good amount of the replay of yesterday's game. It did not look bad, except the club seats. Those folks were in the club room. Except later in the second half. We were up 5 TD's. Good ideas on the unused tickets, though.

I'll use this thread to explain myself. Unfortunately, I missed Homecoming this weekend, one of only a few I've missed since Larry Bitcon was our head coach. My old roommate, Larry the Polish Prince, used my tickets, so there were fannies in our seats. When I saw the final, I wished I'd been able to be there.

Circumstances dictated that we use this week to close our cabin in Minnesota. Just the way it worked out this year. I was gonna have to miss either Homecoming or SDSU. Not an easy choice.

The good news is we were able to join 16,900+ other folks at the Natural Bowl in Collegeville, MN enjoying the DIII shootout between #7 St. John's and #3 St. Thomas. Wow. St. John's hung 40 points on the Tommies, who had only allowed 28 total points all year in 5 games, and held them to 20 points - they came in averaging 61 ppg. Yes, really. Final 40-20 St. John's.

Great game, great performances. St. Thomas had 610 yards of total offense - and lost! St. John's had 539. Tommie RB Josh Parks (who started his career at Minnesota) had TD runs of 92 yds, 60 yds, and 1 yd while piling up 256 yards rushing. Johnnie QB Jackson Erdmann (who started his career at Penn St.) set a school record 470 yds passing, on 28-53. Tommie QB Jacques Perra (also a Minny transfer) was "only" 25-53 for 339 yds! Perra was picked off 5 times tho, and that was a killer. Well, the real killer was a 99 yard fumble return by the Johnnies Max Jackson to set the final margin with 11 minutes left in the game, just as the Tommies were set to get within a TD. Wow.

Just wanted to report on this great game, grovel for missing Homecoming, and urge you all to get out and see as much good football as you can (especially ISU of course). Illinois Wesleyan, North Central and Wheaton are all ranked in the Top 25 in DIII and will show you some great football.

Tailgating under the water tower for the Jackrabbit game in a couple weeks!! Let's get a nice day!

St. John's - St. Thomas is a bitter bitter long time rivalry. For years St. John's owned it, but until Saturday St. Thomas had won 4 in a row. The St. Thomas coach, Glen Caruso, is much hated in Johnnie quarters and is kind of an ass (lots of trick plays when they're up on lowly opponents, charges of running up the score, etc.). Last week Sunday, St. John's long time coach John Gagliardi, the winningest coach in college football ever, died. So, it was an emotional week in Johnnie nation.

St. Thomas came out for the game with JG initials on their helmets, in tribute to Gagliardi. The Johnnie "male cheerleaders", the Rats (hard to explain, crazy students dressed in crazy costumes doing crazy things) carried over a bouquet of roses to present to the St. Thomas head coach's wife who is battling cancer (it was Fight Cancer day at the game). Head coaches hugged after the game, which was surely a bitter loss for the Tommies. Of course, the teams met at mid-field after the game to shake hands and hugs, many former HS teammates and rivals. Makes for a good Saturday.
