What makes you mad about the MVC? Disappointments and hindsight.

I would of liked to see the MVC add quality schools in sports other than a DII move up league or a downsizing/methodical thinking programs graveyard.

The only thing that makes me mad about the MVC is their lack of power to be equal to all other conferences in their division.

Wasn't Evansville D2, before they were in MVC?

No sir not directly D2 to MVC. Went D1 in '77 and a well established program by the time they applied for MVC membership.

Unfortunately, the same year (1977) they went D1, they lost their entire team in the plane crash.

MVC is literally a top-10 conference (of 32). It has the model conference tournament for mid-majors. There is not a person with infantile knowledge of college sports that would call it a "DII moveup league".

WTF is this dude talking about?

I went to the MVC tournament a few years ago.

Before going to our assigned seats, I stopped at the concession stand to buy food for my family, because we had not eaten for a while. I bought 6 hotdogs, 4 chili nachos, 4 popcorns, 2 adult beverages and 2 soft drinks, and then some funnel cakes.

The concession stands were very crowded and after getting all of this food and drink and trying to balance it my elbow accidentally nudged the ear of a patron waiting in the line behind me. Well he was not at all happy with the event that transpired and called me a name that was not very nice. I delicately and gracefully spun around to apologize and explain that it was totally accidental. Well sometimes gravity happens and since I didn't spin at centrifugal force, 2 nachos, one popcorn, and 2 soft drinks all fell on the ground. Well, as the soft drinks hit the floor, they splattered on some of the folks near by and there were more patrons that were not happy with me and called me more names that were not so nice.

Next, I sat my hotdogs on the floor to attempt to clean up the mess on the floor. Running several times to get more napkins to sop up more of the mess. After returning the third time, I realized that someone had taken my hotdogs and the remaining chili nachos and one beer. Fortuitously I held on to one of my beers as it helped to soothe my nerves during the calamitous events. I can tell you that I was sweating so much that it looked like one of those exploding soft drinks had been poured on me head to toe. Well after cleaning up the mess and apologizing to several folks for the unfortunate incident, I was on the verge of tears.

I have been mad at the mvc for putting me in this position and the embarrassment it caused me. I have written to the MVC office a total of 8 times explaining the situation including sending my receipt and pics of the damage and the angry mob I faced. To this date, I have not received a response.

This incident has scarred me for my life. I don't think that I will ever be able to attend another arch madness game again.

I was curious if any others have encountered similar incidents. Maybe we could start a support group.

The pandering to private schools is what angers me the most about the MVC. Adding a program like Valpo that doesn't bring 500 fans to St Louis when you could have had Murray State who would bring a few thousand at least. But, but, but they have football and we can't have that in the MVC. It's better for the public schools to have to ship our teams off to Timbuktu. Now WIU is probably on their way to the OVC and a lousy decision like that screws the publics over even more.

Would agree with that; the delicate balance of private/public that seems to need to stay intact.

The conference also seems to select teams for the wrong reasons. I recall in the 90s, when it came down to Butler and Evansville, the Aces were chosen and one of the reasons given was they did not want a school that was just another entity in a major market. I am not naive enough to think the Bulldogs would still be in the Valley, but I think they would have brought more to the table.

Now, the scenario is exactly opposite; they chase schools more based on location than strength. The Crusaders over the Racers? We now have two programs that do not move the needle in Chicago. Do we get UIC next? Chicago State needs a home (again).

I am almost to the point where I would like to see the MVC football schools add the likes of Murray State, North Dakota State and South Dakota State and just go at it as one entity with eight members across all sports. Or pull in the likes of Murray State and Northern Kentucky and find some quality depth.
