Ball States FB budget is nearly double ours. 7millionish to 4 miliionish. So want to, can't, shouldn't, better not? All of the above works for me.
With the current state of college athletics, I would consider a move down before I would consider a move up.
The info you provided proves the point. The athletic budgets are similar in size, how that budget is allocated is different.

Ok, I admit I shouldn’t keep this thread going but I am fascinated by this off-the-field stuff so I have thoughts.

You are right about moving up is about wanting to. I think of conferences like country clubs so one consideration is what country club do you want to be a member of? Where do you fit? What neighborhood do you live in? What’s your profession? Who do you see as your peers? Do we see ourselves more like Indiana State or more like Miami of Ohio? Western Illinois or Western Michigan?

Now look at what institutions are entering the FCS level:

As more DII schools move up, do we see ourselves as living in their realm?

By the way, there are just as many counter arguments to what I have written. All of the Ivys, Cal Poly, UC Davis, not bad company.

Gotta remember, TV money is not listed there. Didn't I post something last year where each Big Whatever school got like $25 million each from their network? That let's these schools operate at little to no profit. They know they are getting tens of millions from the TV network for doing nothing but playing their games.

With the chatter about the P5 taking their football and going home to a new home, I’m not sure contemplating any move right now is the right thing to do. If the P5 leave the auspices of the NCAA, for football, where does that leave the G5? Could it be that in 5 years time MAC football and MVFC are at the same level? By staying put do we see CUSA and MVFC at the same level in 5 years? I don’t know but could be.

P5 schools are supposedly tired of sharing the pie with all of FBS schools and talks about a split are out there. Greed runs rampant.

Think Big Ten schools are currently at 40,000,000 per member.
