Break out the long johns. This is a game for serious football fans only. The finale against Western will be chilly and windy. I'll be there and I won't be shielded by a pane of glass either. I gave up my club tickets years ago. If Redbird Football can brave the cold then I can too.

Two teams looking to finish on a winning note. For the Leathernecks a win isn't everything, it's the only thing. They're 0-10 and this is their last chance to taste what a winning locker room feels like. The 'necks have been blown out in some games but they played Youngstown to a 1 pt. game. YSU beat us by 2 pts. so WIU could give us a tough game. I expect them to come out fired up. If the 'Birds play well we could break their spirit in the cold but it will be a battle until then.

For the Redbirds it is a chance to finish at 6-5 and a winning season. I'd like to see that and I'd like to see some OFFENSE. The Redbird offense has not scored in the last 6 quarters. Our offense was last seen at Indiana St. when Zack threw for 274 yards and Wenkers ran for 180. That's 454 yards of offense for just two players and a balanced offense. It would be nice to see that going into next season and it would provide some reassurance that the Tony Petersen offense is on the right track. We'll need to add some players on offense, but it may be case of coming back better next year by just getting players healthy.

I also want to see the Seniors one more time, Zeke in particular. I think he may be the best linebacker we've had since Boomer and he may be a better pro prospect. Zeke is longer and the NFL will like that as LB'ers are often asked to drop into coverage. Boomer was on the shorter side of NFL LB'ers and he got moved to fullback.

The Redbird Seniors fighting to go out as winners - Looking forward to this one.

Hey now, some of us with club seats still sit outside no matter what is happening with the weather. Yes though, this one will show who the serious fans are. Thinking all of us outside should probably huddle together and put a little something in the hot chocolate to stay warm. Thinking long underwear, snow pants, whatever other winter gear I can find at home along with some of my hand warmers. Whatever it takes to celebrate the seniors and cheer them on to victory.

Make sure you have your mukluks on! At least it is supposed to be partly sunny!

I think as the season winds down and the opportunities to win become fewer the Leathernecks are fighting hard to not go winless. A team that has nothing to lose can be dangerous. The Redbirds have to be disappointed after the last few games but they will come out hard to finish with a winning record and send their seniors out with a win. Redbirds win this one but I think it will be close. Unless Annexstad is playing, and I see no reason he should be playing at all, I have no confidence in this offense. Still, I think Western is just a bad team and if they did not take YSU to the wire I would have guessed the Birds win this one going away. I think they win but a closer game.

This game is about finishing the season on a up note, getting above .500, and then also somewhat about preparing for next season.

The show must go on !!!!!!!

Are you a real fan of BRMM? They'll be there. BRMM fans only have to stay through halftime.
:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I did my time in the cold. And the rain. And the heat in those polyester uniforms.

I mean, I could make the argument the BRMM is tougher than the football team. They don't have heaters in the stands and they don't go inside out of the cold for 20 mins in the middle. :p

I was looking at the WIU lineup and realized something. Their starting QB is Clay Bruno. He's a 5'10 Jr. from Rochester HS, IL. This will be the second time this season we've faced an undersized QB from Rochester. SIU's QB is 5'9 Nic Baker. Baker is considered the better of the two Rochester QB's, but they are both problematic. We will counter with 5'11 Rittenhouse at QB, so he will tower over Bruno.

Well, we'll need to get an early start from Madison to get down I-39 by 11am, but for some unknown reason Mrs. MadBird has agreed to head south with me tomorrow, so the MadBird Express will plan on making Senior Day. Will scratch plans for the tailgate, but maybe grab a Gondola Deluxe for the ride home. Potential for some snow showers early morning up here, but appears they'll come after we have to hit the road - the only potential glitch in our plan.

Will be an interesting test of wills - which is stronger, the drive for one single win for the year vs. the drive to go out with a winning record when plans for the playoffs were torched the last two weeks.

Assume there'll be a sparse crowd at Hancock to bolster the boys' spirit, but you gotta believe they'll want to finish off strong. Get the Youngstown monkey off their backs and get up off the floor after the Jack Bunnies worked them over last week.

WIU has one rushing TD all year. Averaging 75 yds. rushing per game. Thrown 18 picks vs 16 TD's. Converting 24% on 3rd down. Given up 23 sacks. Leading rusher is the QB. Not one of the stronger Leatherneck teams that have come to Hancock.

Would be a good day to get Wenkers Wright 100+ yds rushing, get Pha'Leak and Nigel and Lampkin some PT, let Rittenhouse get some comfort level running the O.

Posted the sentiment on another thread, this is sort of deja vu all over again, November game, cold and breezy (thank God no rain or snow, at least for now), WIU (or it could be UNI or SIU or YSU) as opponent, fighting for 6-5 vs. 5-6. Been there, done that, many times before. Feels right at home! :D

Thanks for not putting me on the spot, Total Red, hope I won't let you down this year!! ;)

Ok, here are the timekeeper ground rules for tomorrow.

#1 - Each coach only gets 1 timeout for the entire game. Use it wisely.
#2 - No replay reviews. Get the call right the first time. Or don't get it right. Either way move on.
#3 - TV timeouts are 60 seconds. If TV misses a couple of plays the announcers can catch you up when they return to the game.

We should be out of there by 1:30 at the latest. Get back home, get warm, watch the afternoon games.
