Who's coming this weekend? This field is so good with Marquette and Illinois both ranked. I might have to go to all the games. UCF isn't ranked so I'm hoping that's a win. The other two games will be really tough, even at home.

I also can't wait to see how RBA looks with the new seating.

And followed it up with beating UCF who has been getting votes. Great job!

They're on a roll. Beating teams (especially good ones) when you still aren't playing your best is a great sign.

Finish it off with a win over Marquette tonight and that's one hell of a weekend!

PS- new lower bowl looks great and the atmosphere/noise level has been great the past two nights.

To put the cart before the horse, if the birds beat Marquette, are they in the top 25?

I'll never be happy with a loss but if you would have told me going into the weekend that we'd be 2-0 on Sunday & take Marquette to 5 sets I would have said that would be awesome. After today I'm really excited about this team but really wanted the W today. I do think we improved over the weekend. Playing these tough close matches can only help us in conference. If we play like we did this weekend I can't see to many Valley teams challenging us. We showed we can play with some of the best in the country.
The crowd wasn't as large today but really got into it, especially during the final set.
If you didn't make it out this weekend I highly suggest making a game at some point this season.

Heavy weight match! Birds have 5 on the roster at 6 foot tall and the Warriors have 10. Their 6'5 player was intimidating. Can't imagine trying to dig that. Freshman played a lot. The noncon schedule should pay off for Valley play and power ranking.

I am just curious...why were the Redbirds placed second in the final outcome of the Redbird Classic?

Marquette 3 UCF 2
Redbirds 3 Illini 1
UCF 3 Illini 1
Marquette 3 Redbirds 2
Redbirds 3 UCF 2
Illini 3 Marquette 2

I have played competitive club volleyball and have learned that crowning the champ at a tournament...I see more unfair type competitions in double elimination tournaments...where the championship (due to $$/time/schedule) is never a true double elimination.

This classic, definitely not double elim….but the Redbirds appear as if they fared better than MU. Just wonder what logistics were used to label the champs.

Both Illinois State and Marquette finished 2-1 but Marquette won the head-to-head meeting and so Marquette is considered the champion. It's the same logic that was used at the North Texas invite where both Illinois State and North Texas finished 2-1 but the Redbirds were the champs because they won the head-to-head with the Mean Green.
