Like Thursday’s win over UIC, the ‘Birds got off to a slow start, falling behind 15-3, and trailed the Beacons for most of the game. But thanks to yet another strong performance by Deanna Wilson, 11 of 11 free throws by Maya Wong, and great performances by Bullman, Dowell and Smith, good support from Lenz and Coffee, etc. This is a team with no quit in them. Their last two games haven’t been pretty, but they found ways to win. Great women, great coaching staff.

20-0 run in the 4th made it look like a fairly easy win which it wasn’t. They won which ultimately is all that matters, but they have been off the last few games. Will need to pick it up to finish in the top 4…

Have to really finish strong to earn a 4 seed. Our schedule is much more difficult than that of UNI so it will be difficult. Have to go no worse than 5-1 last 6 games and even that may not be enough.. Really need to win out

I watched the game yesterday - what has not been pointed out. The turning point was the Technical Foul called on the Valpo coach. That was a very odd call - the ref was down in front of the ISU bench. It was a little strange. The whole game was not called very well - WAAAYY to many fouls called, especially outside of the lane and in non-shooting situations - need to let them play a little more. It was almost like each ref was trying to "up" the other two with foul calls. Makes the game hard to watch.

Another question I have - since that Ernst from Valpo was driving at will and was about the only real offense - why did we not switch to a zone once in a while, if anything to change it up on occasion???
