As of now, most out considering Sissoko and Kotovs scholarships as open. So right now we have 3 to fill with those two and Petrakis. I see at least one more entering the portal and no more than two.

I'll reiterate that I believe Pedon thinks the freshmen will be ready to contribute earlier than a lot of folks expect.
Schmitt and Andrews would be the likely 2

Regarding our incoming freshmen playing a lot of minutes, do you think they will adapt to the Assistant Coach Boeheim 2-3?

Marquise Kennedy from Loyola is in portal - one year left - we offered him out of high school. Solid defensive player - can play PG as well

Think getting a pure point guard thru the portal is a long shot. However, a combo that has played some point might be our best alternative.

My enjoyment and interest in college sports continues to decrease every year because of things like the portal.
I think this is one of the reasons I enjoy women's basketball more and more every year. There are not nearly as many women's players entering the portal as men's. You actually get to know the players and cheer for them for multiple years. Obviously it also helps that our women's team is on an upswing.

Cindy, you said you sat with some of the parents. Any feel for the likelihood Gillespie will be back?

I actually didn't chat with anyone about that even though I really wanted to tell Coach Gillespie's wife, Brittany, that I hoped they were around a long time. Coach G has to know that there could be potential jobs out there but to me she seems like the type of coach and person that isn't even entertaining those thoughts until the season is over. So at some point today she may actually start think of what her future could look like. I do think that her family really looks it here and her parents are close by so they are able to come to most games.
Also, I'm going to keep beating this drum. Our women's basketball team is good, fun to watch, and has great student athletes that are easy to cheer for as people. For all of you that didn't make it out to any games this year I hope you'll make it out next year.

i have not heard much about the women's basketball portal but would guess that, with much less NIL impact, the portal will bring a lot of undesired transfers (from a fan's perspective) to that game as well? seems that same underlying reasons for a female player to transfer exist so mid-major stars are very desirable/vulnerable. i hope we do not get portal bitten

Have I mentioned that I hate the portal??
If it wasn't for the portal, we wouldn't have a chance to flip the program quickly. Horne and Reeves would have left in the old system too. Other than those two, who have we lost to the portal that would have got us dancing? (Not even sure they could have done it.) Over 1,000 players currently in the D1 and D2 portals combined according to another post. The portal plays to the advantage of a struggling program to get it turned around quickly. We can offer playing time immediately. The days of waiting 2-3 years for a class to develop and gel are over. Coaches. Go find them, just like everyone else is doing. Everyone in the MVC is playing by the same rules. Adapt. Get better or move on.

Yeah, right, whatever. I'm not saying don't play by the rules we have now, I'm saying I hate the rules. Do you think I'm too dumb to know "how the portal works"? You think the portal plays to the advantage of "struggling" programs? Really? Aren't we struggling because we lost Reeves and Horne and Chatman and Dusan and . . . . . to the portal?

Turning college sports into a few hundred intinerant, traveling shows stinks, IMHO. I get enough of that kind of crap with pro sports.
