So, can Pedon get 3 to 4 really good players out of 500 to 1000 possible players? Can he get them ready and can he coach the talent he ends up with? Brand new ballgame and successful mid major programs are going to need a little luck and be nimble and flexible. Can he sell the possibilities on a program that has not gone dancing in a long long time?
My opinion the school and community, etc really does not matter. What does matter is the program successful at getting to the dance. Secondary considerations are probably lots of other things, including NIL. Is the program successful? My definition is does this program dance? Pretty simple, if you look in our past we have not been very successful for many years. I know many purists will look at graduation rate and other things. But, I have said it before and will say it again. College basketball has turned into the professional minor leagues.
So, who we getting as new free agents? Who are we trying to keep with a better NIL package? Who can we attract because they will get a chance to get more playing time? And I also believe who do we get because they actually do want to come to ISU? Going to take all types at our level to be successful.

Anyone who thinks Muller's MVC championship squad wasnt completely screwed by the commitee and wasn't, in every way, a tournament at-large team is either lying or has no idea what they are talking about.

That team was the best team in program history. It just was. And it proves that the NCAA decides who can win and who can't.

Want to know why we have not had a tourney team in so long? Politics, money and corruption. Dan Muller went 28-7 (17-1) and somehow didnt make the show. Nope, I'll go to my grave saying that counts as a tourney team in my book.
Best team in program history?!? Son, sit down, I have some educating to do…

I think 97 -98 team that cracked the top 25 briefly and beat Tennessee would be a strong consideration for top 5.

To add on to your 84/85 team ... they beat USC in the first round of the NCAA

The tournament win over Tulsa was the greatest atmosphere at a game I have ever witnessed. Been to several Jordan/bulls must win games, extra innings Cardinals playoff games. Nothing tops watching Nolan Richardson throwing his suit coat on the court.

4 would be a good number of newbies from the Portal.
That's what I have been hoping although I am open to another freshman

6 returning schollies
3 freshman that committed
4 other recruits
3 returning PWO

Nine players that know the system would help greatly and with seven new players we should be able to infuse some talent immediately and for the future

The question I have…..who r u thinking are the 6 to return for sure?
Mal, Burford, Kasubke, Lewis, Cheese and WHO? Who’s the WHO is a very curious roster spot that I’ve wondered about since mid season. Guessing Pedon isn’t quite sure how this plays out either.
