Some photos and a write up from The Vidette...Pantagraph not bringing much to the table so far. 200+ guests waiting for the doors to open at 10:30 am isn't a bad way to start. Looks like a really nicely done building.

Pete Robinson of Waterman, who has eaten at every Portillo's, usually on its first day, and was the first customer served Tuesday.

"The one in Greenfield, Wis., I unfortunately did not make the opening because I was having heart surgery. ... I tried to put it off for another week, but the doctor didn't think that was too funny,"

Not bad at all. In addition the angle at which you took the picture is very interesting. Success in any case!

Portillo's announced a little while ago that they are going to start delivering food in the coming months. Should increase the student intake even more.

Ha, did you read the small print on that?

It was all locations EXCEPT Normal, IL, Rockford, IL and somewhere in Indiana. We get screwed.

Read the bottom of their announcement.

Hahahahahahaaa...of course. Redbird Arena chant..."WE GOT SCREWED. WE GOT SCREWED!" Got screwed a company whose premier brand is based on a hot dog. We got screwed by a hot dog.

Well ok then.

Off topic, but somehow triggers this memory. We need a Portillo's paper airplane, launched from the top row, to make it down to center court.

Remember those days?? Has anyone launched an airplane in recent years?? Used to be an every game attempt. They crowd would get glimpse of that plane and boooom, instant excitement. So much fun. I remember one year they actually had a contest where everyone got paper to give it a shot. I think it was preseason or halftime deal or something like that.
