Interesting pattern developing in our recruiting. Seems to be getting a lot of players from IN, MO, KS, and WI.. Texas and IL still are big markets for ISU also. But we seem to have lost our connections in the Pacific Northwest [Seattle] and FL??? We are starting to dominate central IL.. I know ISU has become the dominant FCS school in Chicago. Thinking this will be a big year for recruiting. Last year was a strange year, beat Northwestern, lose 4 games in a row, sneak into playoffs, lose round 1. But still made Playoffs and BEAT NORTHWESTERN! Bounce back like we did in 2014 from mixed 2013 and we solidify the impression we are the program to beat in IL. Love to see us getting our pick of the players out of BLO-NO. That always bugged me that we would lose any local kids. I know its more complicated than that but still like to see a recruit or two every year choosing to stay home even if they are walk ons.
we gotta get back into Florida...10% of DIV-1 kids come from Florida, and 70% of the country's 4 and 5-star recruits come from a cluster of 10 states...but at the top of the list is Florida. NOW, if we are keeping ALL of Illinois' top recruits, then we are talkin'. Florida produces ~14% of the nation's elite FB players, Illinois...2.2% (#14 in the country).
Florida used to be huge for us, the above is why.

Our OL commit from DC Everest HS near Wausau, Wisconsin, Zach Mueller, was named first team all state by the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association.

Just getting around to Friday's news, Mueller was named 2nd team all-state by the Associated Press. Still hoping he sticks with us.

It's getting close to crunch time and we're down 1 recruiting coord. You're our Wisconsin rep so it's now up to you to close the deal with Mueller by any means necessary. Remember what goes on in the cabin stays in the cabin. :D

Used to get up that way for work, but those days are long gone!! Will keep my ear to the ground tho for walk-on rumblings!

I'm looking for written bios for the recruits, and I'm not finding anything. The signing day central page has names and stats and a link to video, but I don't see any bios. Am I missing them somewhere??

Anyone know when is the new recruits preview is scheduled for up in the stadium suite? Hoping it is before a weekday BB game again for those of us who live out of the area.

I think they do that on national signing day, which is Weds Feb 7th this year. We have a home basketball game the next day, but I'm betting they keep that recruiting event on weds. I've been to the last couple of those, and I think last year was a fluke that signing day landing on one of our BBall home games. Personally, I would love it if they moved it to Thursday.

Wait, that 17 year old kid is listed at 6'7'' 310? Good lord. What are they feeding these monsters?

Thanks JHBird. And I agree...pushing it back one day would be a benefit for fans/alum--for those of us who drive an hour or more to Normal- it would increase attendance at Redbird by allowing football folks to catch a BB game- and it would allow BB fans to come early & support the football program. That said I assume you are correct and it will be on the 7th😔

TR, I see you already updated the commit list to include Josh Dinga from Sun Prairie, WI. I did not see that, but today's Madison paper has a pretty informative story on him. Sounds like a very good get. Good size. As usual, I'll hope that the Badger preferred walk-on program doesn't come calling.

Sun Prairie is a "suburb" of Madison, around 30K population, that plays in Wisconsin's largest football class. They have pretty solid athletic teams the way around.

The 6-foot-6, 220-pound Dinga, a defensive end, was a first-team selection on defense on the Wisconsin State Journal/WisconsinPrepZone.com All-Area football team.

Dinga was a first-team choice as a defensive end on the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association all-state team and was an honorable-mention pick on The Associated Press all-state team.

This is pretty good too, fun.

Mad - Totally agree, great get. You'll never have to sell me on the idea of recruiting Wisconsin talent especially the All-Staters. Dinga, Mueller and Halusan. I'd like to have a half dozen more.

Always good to get a kid from East St. Louis, good program there. Big body WR never hurts either! Looks like he had a few MVFC offers -- Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois, and South Dakota. Good get!

(Also looks like the shortest commitment tweet I've ever seen).
