Congratulations to my son who will be graduating from ISU - "Camp Redbird" - next weekend. We received notification he has earned the highest honor of Summa Cum Laude - my wife and I thrilled, excited and very proud. He will be receiving the combined B.S and MPA degree in Accounting. In order to sit for the CPA exam - it is a minimum of 150 semester hours. The MPA is the Masters of Professional Accountancy - which is the highest achievement - it is higher than the traditional MBA.

He has been a Redbird his entire life - made his Redbird debut at 5 months old in November 1997 at Redbird Arena and has not missed many games since then. He will finish with his 10th listing on the Dean's list. Quite an accomplishment.

Go Birds!!!

Nice! Hope it doesn't have a pandemic exclusion in it! My niece just got hosed out of a job that she committed to a year ago as an actuary

Big congratulations! For those that may not know, the ISU MPA program, at least when I was at ISU, was ranked in the top 15 in the nation for first time pass rate on the CPA exam.

The MBA accounting professor that I had would kid with us that they had to take it "easier" on the MBAs. The MPA program was more rigorous than the MBA program. (I skipped some classes to watch ISU basketball! I still made it!) We had several cross over classes with the MPAs. For the final class, we had a car company simulation (I loved business simulations) where we had to break into teams. But it went MBA teams and MPA teams. The MPA teams finished last and lost over $1Billion dollars by the end. :devilish: I still recall that group's final presentation on why they lost over $1Billion dollars.
