Good guy. Hell of a football coach. I truly believe if it wasn't for all those seizures he would have been a lot more successful at Minnesota.

They've hired some out of the box AD's in the past. Gale Sayers. Jim Hart. I'll bet Jerry brings in some money for them. Popular guy.

He wanted very much to stay at Minnesota in an AD/outreach/fundraiser role, but for whatever reason the AD and president decided against it. Guess he kept his house down near Carbondale even after all those moves after SIU and he and the wife liked the area and so I'm not surprised he was willing to take on a role there.

Hearing rumors (which i guess means nothing) that Barry could still get fired, even though Bell was run off. Barry and his staff apparently were actually fired by Bell, but Chancellor reversed the call and somewhere in the hubbub, Bell lost his job.

Tell you what though. You'd better look out for the Salukis. They return a bunch of their top dogs and Pippen played, at times, like he could be next year's POY in The Valley.

If Barry sweats it through and succeeds next year, he might end up with a nice new contract and a big giant middle finger to some of his 'fans.'

They return everyone , except Smithpeters and Wiley (not a big loss). They also get a really good post player back in Bol. They will be tough.

Next year’s POY should be #52! Of course, imo he should have been this year’s POY!

Don't know if anyone's read about the SIU chancellor, but he's shaking things up, ruffling feathers, lots of big changes in academic organization, etc. So not surprising he'd shake up the AD too. He's not too popular with a lot of the employees, faculty, etc. it sounds like.

The story of Barry being fired and then not is one of the craziest things ever. It involves the former owner of SalukiTalk.net (which he shut down over it), a bunch of donors and the chancellor.

Heard a radio interview with Kill on Minneapolis radio last night, and it's funny, he really didn't sound all that "gung ho" about doing this. Was sort of like, well, I didn't seek this position, they said they needed me to help them out, so I said I'd do it for the short run, we'll see how it goes, etc. I'll be I interested to see how long this lasts.
